By default, progam list contains a long list of General MIDI programs that makes it harder to navigate. In case I do not use GM it is really useless.
How can I get them out of the lists?

I think Korg users have been asking this for years and it still cannot be done.

Don't have a Kronos yet, but can't you take them off the favorites list and just look at favorites?

Believe he's addressing the "GM bank and it's many variations is an eyesore" concern. My Korg M3 is arranged so that all the GM programs show up at the END of the category view. So if you browse all Keyboards by category, you'll get all the keyboard programs in banks I-A through I-F, then U-A throug U-G, then all the ones in I-G (0-9) at the end of all of that. This was an improvement over the Triton series, but it seems to have been left out in the Kronos. Perhaps this was part of the M3's 2.0 patch...that may be included in a future Kronos update?

... cause we haven't heard anything about the M3's 2.0 features appearing in the Kronos yet, can't hurt to hope for the best on this, right?

I would also appreciate this feature, because I consider the no GM programs far mor better than the GM ones. Also (at least on my Triton Extreme, dont'know about Kronos), equally named g(1)-g(9) programs are all listed.

As mentioned above, favourites might be your way of removing the GM sounds from your view.

I have done this (and with other sounds).

It takes a while but you basically go through each program and mark it as a favourite, then save each marked program.

Then when you're browsing/auditioning you select the favourites box at the bottom of the category or bank screen and you no longer see the sounds you don't want. If you want to see all the sounds, then uncheck it again.

You can't remove them from the lists. (But it's been discussed amongst the developers how this would be a very desirable thing - we don't like looking at them either. Wink So maybe in a future update.)

It wouldn't be so difficult to make:
- Add one option in the Global menu to show GM programs or not
- in the programs list check if th option is set or not.

But of course anything costs time (and especially test time). But it would be a nice addition.

Sweet ... i did not know about this feature. Thanks for explaining it. Does this get saved with a PCG file? so when you are dealing with multiple PCG's... you don't have to do this every time you load in a new one?

The Favorites checkbox is saved with the program. So once you write the program, you can store it in however many different PCG files you want, and it will be there. But it's the same as any other parameter in a program. It's like editing the filter cutoff. If you edit it in one file, it's not going to be edited in some other file. So let's say you stored your Kronos PCG on day 1 (all the programs); then later you go through and mark some of them as favorites. If you were to reload the previous data, or the factory preload, your favorites would be gone.

As Stephen said, I know I filed a feature request for this some time ago.

Another possible solution would be to not show all of the variations of all the GM programs, only one per variation, as this is the primary cause of clogging up the category browse list, right?
