As a bit of an update, purchased and did a bit of testing on my Gator case for the Kronos 73.
I went with the GKPE-76D-TSA
The "D" adds a bit of height and width to the case...both which I feel are actually nice to have. The moveable padding I arranged very similar to the above picture.
1) Very light (28lbs) yet very sturdy. I'm able to stand on the case without worrying about it cracking or folding in so that it would harm the keyboard. (Not recommending to jump on it or anything).
2) TSA locks - nice for anyone who might have to fly with their instrument (these are required by law).
3) Nice padding, foam, and fabric. I'm not worried about it getting scratched in the case! The foam is soft yet rigid enough to hold its shape.
4) Construction, wheels, handles - all felt nice
5) A little extra room in it so you can put a surge proctector, power cord, and even a sustain, expression, and footswitch in there!
I didn't throw it against the wall or drop it or anything, but I did jiggle the case a bit to see how it holds the kronos in place. From my brief testing, did a great job.
Certainly much lighter (and yet I feel equally sturdy) compared to my old 50lb 88-key flight case.
Good price too compared to some of the alternatives. |
