I have been following this forum since it started, but this is my first post. It has been very interesting and extremely informative - thanks to all that have contributed. I have a Triton Studio88 that I use in a trio where all songs are sequenced (over 200 pretty good sequences). I have been waiting for a replacement keyboard and believe the Kronos is it. I was going to get a Kronos88, but am concerned about all that has been said (good and bad) about the RH3 action. I like the action on my Triton, but it us 10 years old. I went to New Orleans Guitar Center where keyboard department staff is both knowledgeable and honest. Both said not to sell the Triton because it will become a "classic"(?) They recommended getting a Kronos 61 and keep the Triton for weighted action. Not a bad idea considering the simplification of sequence transfer and having both synth and weighted actions on stage. My concern (and question) is what about the key release parameter in the Kronos acoustic pianos; will it work with the Triton keyboard as a controller? Also, what about the Triton Studio becoming a "classic" ?

If Triton sends Note Off velocity through MIDI out, and I believe it is, then you're golden!

Tritons already ARE "classics". Laughing

Digital synths don't retain value. The Triton Studio 88 in good condition sells for $1k-$1,200. If its keybed is still good, you'd better keep it to use it as a controller and sound source. If not and if you must have some Triton sounds, buy a CME or M-Audio 88 controller and a used Triton Rack.

I think the question is your Triton Studio a ' collectible ' , as in will it increase nicely on the used market. I believe this will not happen, at least
not for 5-10 years.
There are 15 Tritons on my local CL, which suggests there are 100's for sale across the country. Bottom line, there is nothing rare about it.

I was picky about the RH3, too, having owned the Rd700GX. I tried out
the SV-1 and determined the RH3 was adequate. From what I read, the
K88 RH3 is mostly positive.

At this point, you might simply test drive a K88. IMO, I would not buy the K61 since the 88 is the foundation of my tunes.
Consider taking a few months to transition your sequences from your Studio to the K88. Your sequences should sound great on a Kronos.

You could always pick up a simple 49/61 for synth parts. And sell the Studio.
