|

Do you have to do anything special before removing USB storage devices (thumb drives or USB hard drives) from the Kronos? Do you simply wait for no LED disk activity and remove them, or do you have to turn the Kronos off to do so?
Since the Kronos takes quite a while to re-start, I'd love not to have to do that every time I need to transfer a file from my Mac to the keyboard.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Once you've plugged in a USB thumb drive, hard disk, CD or whatever, go into Disk mode and press the Media Info tab, use the Drive Select drop-down box to access your drive, and the info page will tell you if it supports removable media... So far, all my thumb drives have come up as a removable device, which can be safely unplugged without shutting down.
No sure what the situation is regarding "non removable" drives though. _________________ Synth DIY Projects |

I forgot to remove mine when I turned off the Kronos and it wouldn't boot up with it in. I'd just yank it whenever as long as it's not writing to it, it's fine. _________________ Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). |

My USB external hard drive shows up as "no" under "supports removable". I guess it's safer to leave that one plugged in and use the other port for thumb drives for transferring since they seem to show up as removable devices.
Thanks!

I always just change the active device in the Disk menu back to the internal SSD before unplugging my USB drives and I haven't had any issues. I have to say that the 3 USB ports can really spoil an individual!
Cheers and good luck! _________________ - cynkh -
