Has anyone any preference for makes of headphones to get the best from the Kronos? I prefer ones to encase my ears without slipping off my head. Budget upto £150. |

Hi Nippess, I use a Sennheiser HD25. It is not fully covering your ears but has enough pressure to close ambient noise out. I thing this headphone is around your suggested budget. _________________ Ton

A great site for real-world headphone recommendations is:
http://www.headphone.com
They're a vendor, not a pure review site (so take that into account) but I've found their opinions and recommendations spot on over the years. Great place for you to at least start research from folks in the know.
Personally, I've been using Shure SCL4s for a long time, as I use them for everything from IEM on gigs to casual iPod listening. I'm so used to their sound now there's no "translation gap", so to speak. But sounds like you're not looking for in-ears.

I use AKG K271 MkII's (Digital Village sell them £99). Not too heavy, very comfortable and you can wear them for hours without your ears getting tired, good frequency/dynamic response too.
Oh, and they won't slip off your head. _________________ Synth DIY Projects

BeyerDynamic DT-880 Pro (250 Ohm model) are one of the best headphones in the world, with one of the flattest frequency response curves out there, and do not cost you an arm and a leg. |

Hm, let's compare frequency responses:
Shure SRH-840:
BeyerDynamic DT-880 Pro (250 Ohm):
Winner: BeyerDynamic. It's more neutral and doesn't have that nasty bump around 100 Hz. |

I use ultrasone dj-1 pros which are awesome, check out the reviews online, they are designed as dj phones but are pretty flat and a very comfortable and light. |

Not bad there, theshinenz. Googling around, seems like DJ1 Pros are basically the same as Ultrasone HFI-580, so here's a comparison chart with my fav cans

+ 1 if you want a neutral sound without misleading ear candy.
I use the K 702 and am a big fan of these, but they were not so easy to afford. |

It might be worth checking out some Grados if you can find a local dealer. They're about the only others I'd jump for apart from Sennheiser. |
