I have lots of stereo multi-samples in sound font format. But when I load them into the Kronos, the samples do not load in Stereo. What I mean, the RAM - Stereo option is grayed out. I am able to to select them in Ram -M only. The work around, is to assign the L to OSC 1 and OSC 2 to R.

However, the parameter guide of the Kronos (page 426) states that:

"SoundFont 2.0 files
If sample data that has the same settings is used in
more than one item of sound data in a SoundFont 2.0
file, the sample data will be loaded into the first-loaded
multisample, and will not be loaded into other
multisamples. In such cases, please note that the
program after loading will be assigned differentlynamed
multisamples.
Note: If a loaded multisample assigns stereo samples, an
“–L” and “–R” will be automatically added to the end of the
multisample name and sample name (the 23rd and 24th
characters)."

How is it possible to accomplish the above?

Sorry, I have not tried loading any SoundFonts yet, but I have loaded several stereo WAV files without having to do anything special. Sounds like it could be a SoundFont issue? I saw your other post, so maybe there are a few things that need to be tweaked in the OS concerning SF's?

Proton Cool

Sounds like the exact same issue the M3 has. I reported this a while back and explained what the cause was. I also posted details on how to get around it as well as a video.

I will see if I can dig up the link

I ran into the same problem without any idea what happened, after having been able to load other SF2 files without problems. First I thought it was an issue concerning big SF2s, or something was wrong with certain SF2 files.

However, the issue described would make SF2 import pretty worthless for Kronos users from my view. Though I am grateful to see your workaround, this can't really be the solution Korg expects to be performed each time by us Kronos users. And if a simple search and replace routine in a Hex editor can solve the problem, it would be much smarter, if the the Kronos OS did that job with imported SF2s right away.

Couldn't that be fixed easily, Dan or Rich?

Nope... It's not a solution. It's just a means to load the sounds correctly while KORG fix the problem.

Maybe a reminder of this problem is all that's needed. KORG were looking at this 2 years ago.

Well I guess something that converts SF to WAV would do the trick! Cool

Basari: did you test that with sf2s?

It's worth a try.
Still, fully working sf2 format import would be simply be the best solution.

I have renamed all my stereo files manually and added -L and -R to the multi-samples @ 15 and 16 position. Kronos recognized them as stereo files.

Thanks.

So, Oasys should recognize and load sf2 samples without any problems except stereo issue?

No... The OASYS does not read SF2 at all. The only KORG keyboard that can are the M3 and KRONOS.

Has anyone tested if a conversion to wav files does the trick as well, or does it just introduce new problems in the translation process?

If yes, which conversion tool do you use (I use Extreme Sample Converter).

Not really as that kind of data is generally always free to download. Try googling things like “Motif Refill” “Fantom Refill” and so on.

Either that or buy Extreme Sample Converter. That will pretty much clone any keyboard or VSTi you connect to it.
