Dany!
I'm understanding your feelings, (and believe me it's not only yours) but on the other hand, we have to understand that as far KRONOS will be milking cow this situation will be repeated many times.
As I told here- Korg considering US as discontinued product.
But it is not reason for me to leave the forum -basically community of the good people.
Korg doubled number of banks i K, will be AA,BB and so on. It is exactly about our function knob...
I will be happy to struggle with you for our right's- but do you see any real way?
btw -I have an idea- if we'll find who can do it -we can all together invest in PCG converter-pretty sure it's possible-so all K sound (for the same engines) will be compatible .
What do you think? _________________ Leo

There may be one already in development... Keep an eye on this thread:

I think you can sell it, but officially you are not allowed to use it anymore yourself. I really don't know the rules for this actually.
For me a PCG is just a bunch of data. I don't feel responsible for what people do with PCGs, I just make an application to perform actions on it and I never make PCG content available. _________________

I will make a special topic about legal use of PCGs in the Kronos folder (since that's the most recent model so it's read best). _________________

I checked the Kronos and Oasys programs in a PCG file, but it seems they are not equal sized. This means, (a lot of ) additional analysis is needed to be able to convert from Kronos back to Oasys, even for programs having only shared EXIs. _________________

The sad part is , Oasys users have to beg Korg to do right buy Oasys .
The Oasys was built for theses new expansions . Wasn't it ?
Anybody remember the term Open Architecture .
This is the main reason the Oasys cost $ 8000 .
I can't believe Korg would do this to Oasys owners .
Korg please do the right thing and support the Oasys with new technologies as they become available like you promised . |

The OASYS cost $8000 because of R&D, parts pricing, cost of lower quantity manufacturing, etc. Korg didn't make a $5000 profit on every one. The profit margin on the OASYS was about the same as the profit margin on the KRONOS.
But I agree that many PAID $8000 due to the Open Architecture and promise for longtime support. _________________ Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). |

Sometimes McHale can be downright irritating (for some) but I think this is more due to him being more or less factually correct in many of his postings.
Its difficult to discuss with emotional people.....especially over sensitive Oasys users, when along comes McHale and writes, not on an emotional level, but on a mental & factual level.
I think this upsets some.
But I welcome McHale here as much as I do that initial poster - Dany - who seems to have taken flight away from here..... _________________ .....Still waiting for the allusive, missing EXf for Oasys..... |

I am confused as to why any person who doesn't own an Oasys would bother commenting on these threads and continually telling Oasys owners how they should be thinking...
I thank all Kronos owners for their concern, but I am content with my opinion of Korg.com as, I suspect, are most Oasys owners. |
