I havent had much luck finding a CDRW drive upgrade kit for the Studio from distributors - and wondered if its possible to source these separately. Is it just a drive in the upgrade, or are their additional electronics / cables required.

Does anyone know what the drive model is?

Thanks

I did. I just went to a used comuter store and bought an old SCSI CD-R burner and connected it. It works fine.

Why not just put in a larger hard drive? I think someone in these forums put a 250GB one in his. Very Happy

Thats a good idea - but the problem is mainly backing up onto a removable media.

where is the truth? I read that on version 2.02 you can install any CDRW from the laptop and it will work.
I don't want to go inside once again. Did someone make a replacement with conventional CDRW drive?
