Hi there. I haven't had time to listen to your song bad I have read a lot about mixing heavy music and the first thing you do is make sure you hve your instruments panned out of each others way. Another thing to do is not have to much bass on the sounds. I know that doesn't seem right but too much bass just clutters up the mix. When I got time I will listen to your song and see if I can help you.

Hi there. Still busy. That never changes! I recommend you read a magazine called Sound on Sound. It has a lot of amazing tips on mixing. The last issue had the top 10 mixing errors and how to void them. The bass range is something they often talk about since that is a range where people have the most problems. Setting high pass filters on instruments is one way where you can eliminate some of the trouble. I often pan the bass guitar a little to one side and the kick the same amount to the other side. There is no rule that says you have to have these things dead centre. Double kicks are panned like a single kick.Try maybe a little EQ spike on the kick at around 120, Roll off everything below maybe 60 and depending on how low the bass goes, a little spike on it around 60. Try to make the EQ curves go slightly opposite each other. Make sure the phasing is the some or you will end up with some cancellation. What are you recording on? I use a Yamaha desk top recorder but most people use a computer.
Good luck!
