My best bargain price-wise was in the early 90's when I bought a Cat Octave for $20 from a local used gear store (The Starving Musician).
My best bargain overall was 2 weeks ago when I found the synth of my dreams, a Korg Radias with keyboard used 3000 miles away in a Guitar Center in Miami. I paid $699 which I think was a fair price, but it was my best bargain because I fell in love with the Radias after it went out of production and I wondered if I'd ever find one! _________________ Current: Motif XF7, Radias, MS2000R, Emu Proteus 1000

I've always loved the Roland U-20. I've found it incredibly easy to use multi-timbrely and the sounds are great for me. I've got 2 of them. I bought a used one 2 summers ago for $200 Canadian. Thatr's about the same as U.S. dollars. I thought it was a great deal considering how old it was and that it had never been used in a gig situation. Came in the box it was sold in! Hard copy manuals too. _________________ I've got a Univox Minikorg, a Polysix, a Wavestation EX, and a Triton Pro-X. Been a Korg user since 1974. Now if I could just find out who stole my EX-800. I've finally got my Kronos 73 key! My main keyboard is my Monotron! I'm also a very bad man with 2 Roland U-20's and an E-Mu Proteus 2000 rack module plus an old Hammond M-3. |

I really miss that store! It's different now, but in the 90's it was the place to go!!!!!!
I'll never forget seeing that pristine Sequential Pro One on the display case..... _________________ Kronos, PC361 |

Ya, I used to go there frequently in the 90's, they always had something bizarre if you looked hard enough. I loved their bumper stickers:

Guitar Showcase is where I've bought most of my gear from...been buying from Dan Aronie since 1976! He's the best. They currently have scaled down their kybd dept some but still have a decent selection. Nothing too exotic though. _________________ Current: Motif XF7, Radias, MS2000R, Emu Proteus 1000

Here's a funny story. I was moving back to Hawaii. I found TONS of change. I mean a few hundred dollars worth. I neatly packaged everything and went to the bank. They didn't want to take it! I then started calling every music store and Guitar Showcase said, "come in, money is money".
I walked out with a few guitar pedals... really happy. _________________ Kronos, PC361 |

| I got my Poly-800II for $4 at Frenchys, took it home and it was only making weird hissing noises initially but I managed to coax some tones out of it (battery needed replacement). And it's a keytar! I'll never stop bragging about this, even though it kickstarted a costly addiction to synthesis. |
