Not an original piece, but an experiment in orchestration.

"Hellraiser Theme" Kronos 88 and Kirk Hunter's Diamond Orchestra.

Here's an ambient/abstract type of recording. I've used an awesome Combi, Koto strings and a Distortion Lead. What I like about this combi is that it constantly changes in many ways. It's a little hard to play along this type of background, because the pitch shift is unpredictable.

Thx Sam. I used the K for Piano, Harp, Flutes, French Horns, Tympani, Tam Tam and Taiko (for the bass drum).

Celeste, Violins, Violas, Bass and Trombones are from Kirk Hunter - But I'm currently re-sampling all my favorite Hunter sounds into the K for direct use.

Congrats Sam !!
A very good performance.

Just a little downside, only due to Kronos sounds themselves (but not to your performance) : I'm not so convinced by the dist. guitar factory sound.
Some third party guitar sounds seems to be more natural.

That's my opinion.

Thanks a lot. Trust me it's me! I just suck at playing guitars. I'm positive someone with more Guitar experience could do this way better!

I'm sorry Sam, I'm afraid I didn't explain me (english is not my first langage !).
I didn't doubt you were the performer, of course not. I was just speaking about the factory guit sound.
I've looked for a good realistic dist. guitar sound in my Kronos, and didn't really find one. But some third party are providing more convincing sounds.

Oh no worries. What I meant was that my guitar techniques are poor and don't do justice to the sounds. There are some keyboardists with super convincing guitar chops out there. As soon as I solve this additional SSD problem, I'll get some Guitar libraries. Maybe that'll inspire me to play more guitar Smile

Hi Sam,

You had me at Orchestral Epic Smile Superb performance! (Like all the others you've put out here). You really are an excellent keyboard player.

I tend to agree with Liviou2004 on the choice of the lead sound. While the melody/solo you play is really cool, I kinda feel it sound even better with a softer "synth" sound, as the playing style is keyboard oriented. With the harder, distorted sounds, one kinda wants to slide and stuff (Though perhaps I've listened too much to Lundin, Rudess and Sherinian Wink. I also found that none of the stock Kronos hard leads sounded like I wanted them, but the Kronos is plenty capable of them. I find that putting a Stereo Chorus (even just the default setting) after a guitar amp makes wonders. Then there are pre made ones, like Dan Stesco's "Most Wanted Leads" and Audora's (enigmahack) various lead clones (some of which are for free). And guitar packs, as you say.

Anyway, really cool stuff!
