Here is a video of designing a Sound from Scratch on the Korg Kronos:
http://youtu.be/GSsjbowj8h0
Nothing special, its around 14 min long but you can watch in details
from scratch how 1 simple Wave becomes a Sound, its done with AL-1.
There is no explanations of steps or anything, its basically just hanging
out with my Kronos and Camera...some people might actually find it usefull.
In this case its an Oriental Sound played in Oriental Scale and Style but its
a Hybrid, it Sound more like an Analog Brass when FX Off.
It might be boring at first but its fun to watch, what comes at the end.

Thanks

Thanks for the video! I would have LOVED to see what you do on the screen. If you ever make another video, it would be more interesting to have the camera pointed at the Kronos screen/forthcoming editor window, to see how a sound is being sculpted Smile

Actually all you have to do is listen you dont really need to watch since the camera is not on the screen, you can read Korg Forums while listening and go back and forth every now and then lol

Actually i was thinking of doing something like that, also with explaining of what
i am doing but i am always bad at teaching, whatever i know i cant explain it to
people since i am all self taught, its very hard for me to teach someone.
I just simply KNOW what to do...how learnt? How i do it and know? I have no clue.
Same with languages, i speak 5-6 fluently, people ask me how i learnt? I have no clue.
I can do something with explanation but it has to be something basic and general
not a speciffic Sound, that would be helpless but i dont know what...
unless people give me some ideas and take it from there.
Or maybe make smaller tutorials on speciffic topis like:
How to use AMS Mixers
How to do Filtering and Tricks
pitch stuff...e tc...

I have a stupid Camera Stand but its from those straight up,
i dont know how to mount it on top nor have any equipement for that.
Unless i do it from the side somehow then just Zoom in the Display.

I don't think you need to explain what you're doing. The screen shows what you're touching and tweaking and when you play, the changes are audible anyway.

One trick for the camera. Put the stand behind your kronos, pointed downward at the screen. Then flip the screen 180 degrees in a video editing programme and voila! You have a perfect shot!

Yes Kim, that makes sense too, flipping it. As for watching the Video only,
i did it more MY WAY of learning, after years of experience i've learnt how
to create a Sound just by listening to it so basically if i've watched this video
and someone else did it, just by listening to the devellopment of the Soun i will
know what the person is exactly doing, except the FX part which can be figured
out late...i will try to do as you suggested, once i come out with a propper general material.

That's fun watching the entire process start-to-finish (or rather, I should say, watching someone else do the entire process start-to-finish! Razz

Do we have a sticky thread someplace with video tutorial links? If not, I think we should get one going and invite some friendly competition! Smile

Good show, though. Keep it coming! Cheers!

Fun to see everyone does sound design in a similar fashion, lot's of da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da,da.

It would be great to have a little dialog, as I see you thinking, but don't know what's on your mind.

Thanks for sharing,

PS. don't smoke over the Kronos. Oh, you can smoke, just not over the kronos.

Your playing style is interesting. Arabic style is cool. I'll have too work on that.

Excellent work!

I second all the comments about pointing the camera at the screen! Would have loved to see what you were tweaking and such.

Cool video none the less.

As for how to mount the camera above the screen...I would say it would probably involve a broom handle, maybe a coat hanger, and some duct tape!

Or tilt the Kronos 90 degrees backwards ... bit hard to edit / play maybe.
What also might work is a 45 degree mirror and point the camera towards the mirror which reflects the screen.

I figured it out...a Microphone stand overhead...then Duck tape, as Michel said...lol. Then just ZOOM IN.

It was PinkFloyd who suggested duck tape ... guess it should work that way.

Ok, we found a solution of one problem, as seen here:
http://youtu.be/kF1ZcloZOGA
Of course, there would probably a lot of Shaking too.

Now next problem, is it the Light or what...Parameters cant be seen well.
It is a Logitech C510 HD Webcam, its a great cam but not for close up i guess.

It would work well when we have the Editor, then just do ScreenDesktop to Video
but most people would still prefer everything done on Kronos Display.

That looks a lot better for being able to see the parameters. One recommendation (if you're feeling up to it) would be to cut directly to the screenshots of the selected parameters/values before and after with either some narration or text on the screen- that way the camera isn't having to refocus and adapt to the lighting change when your hand moves into and out of frame. It should also make the frame a bit more crisp allowing you to zoom into and focus on parameters/values more closely.
I don't want to sound like a backseat driver but I'm one who appreciates constructive criticism. Looking good, though!
Thanks and keep 'em coming! Smile
