Korg says that loading Korg KSCs will not always use up the amount of RAM memory in the KSC. This is because some sample info actually goes to the SSD - don't know how much or how it works, but it would be interesting to find out? _________________ JP

See this thread, where you can look to see how much RAM each of the optional EXs libraries uses if loaded"

The cpu itself (Atom D510) is a 64bit capable processor. The Kronos uses a 32bit linux kernel. If I were to venture a guess, that would partially be because the effort involved porting all of the Korg specific software components to a 64bit system would have added too much cost/time to the development process.
This is why Korg only recommends you add 1GB of ram instead of 2GB - since a 32bit OS can only address so much, they probably didn't want to have to deal with the complaints of "where's all this extra ram I bought" from people who don't understand how 32bit memory architecture works. At least that's what I would do if I were in charge of the operation. _________________ ::: Korg Kronos 88 ::: Alesis Fusion 8HD ::: Kurzweil PC361 ::: Roland V-Synth ::: DSI Prophet 12 ::: DSI OB-6 ::: Korg Prophecy ::: Moog Micromoog ::: Yamaha CP-30 ::: Alesis Andromeda ::: Moog Sub37 ::: Sequential Prophet 600 ::: Korg MS2000BR ::: GSI Burn :::

read plz
intel d520 mbo spec Processor
"Intel® Atom™ processor D510
Memory
Single channel DDR2 with two slots for 800/667 MHz memory support
Support for up to 4 GB maximum of system memory"
intel just announced first atom cpu for servers for 2013
that mean real x64 memory support (3,25+gb )
they only support x64bit code in software mode (atom is netbook cpu) |

this is an excellent thread.
Between saving $ ( and the exact ram details) on 1 meg of ram , plus the excellent install photos, you can't go wrong.
Thanks, Martin and everyone ! _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

I have a question concerning the voltage of the RAM modules. Most modules have 1.8V specified in their Specs, but another one (Kingston HyperX blu - Memory - Kit 4 GB : 2 x 2 GB - DIMM 240-PIN - DDR2 - 800 MHz / PC2-6400 - CL5 - 1.85 V - unbuffered - non-ECC) has 1.85V specifed.
Does anyone know whether the small difference in voltage (1.8V or 1.85V) matters? |
