Just wanted to share that I've joined in on the SSD upgrade. I did a few other upgrades while I was at it.
SSD: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 6Gbit SATA
Restore from dvd's went flawlessly.
Memory: Silicon Power 2GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 CL5
Never heard of this brand before but took a chance. I did notice ram size was 3.2xGB under the restore of 1.0.6, but was 3GB under 2.0.2.
Network: Tenda W150M Portable Wireless Router
Hardware was easy to setup; just a usb for power and network cable and zip ties. Router software was the trickiest to setup. I used the #1 "AP mode". This allows me to connect/ftp to the Kronos directly under a separate local network than my main wifi router. I decided back and forth between "AP Mode" and "Client + AP Mode" but ultimately didn't trust this cheap router to be on my main wifi connection. The only problem I see with "AP Mode" is that it didn't provide DCHP to the wifi clients...no big deal. The ability to FTP to kronos wirelessly via my Android phone and laptop was worth the $24!
Total cost ~160 USD
This all came about because I needed to upgrade my HTPC's (Home theater pc) boot drive
Happy upgrading!

Has anyone found a limit to the drive size? Or can we put anything in there? |

Interesting Question, since I´m trying to find out this as well right now...
Especially for the 2nd SSD... _________________ Keys+Sound Sources: Kronos 61, X2, X3, i3, i30, SG pro X, nanoPAD2, Yamaha MU100R, 2x CME UF70, Behringer FCB-1010, Yamaha FC-7

Most likely your budget is the limit. They get prohibitively expensive beyond a certain point. Also, since you still only have the same 3GB of RAM, there's very little sense in having a huge drive. Someone did a 256GB one already. I can't even hope to fill up my 120GB one. |

Can I still add a second drive without replacing the original? I seem to remember that a Kronos update stopped it from adding a second drive...though I have no idea where I got that from.
Also, would this one be ok http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/sandisk-256gb-ultra-plus-ssd-sata3-6gbs-a65lu _________________ Korg Kronos 73, KingKorg, Arp Odyssey, X5DR, Roland System 1m, Juno 6, JX-3P, JX-10, MKS-50, D10, Moog Sub Phatty, Novation Bass Station 2, DSI Prophet 08, Tetra, Analogue Solutions Telemark V2 and Leipzig-S, Nord Lead A1, Dreadbox Erebus, Waldorf Pulse, NI Maschine, Komplete 9 Ultimate, Arturia SparkLe, Beatstep, Spectrasonics Omnisphere U-HE Diva (Best Soft Synth ever) + other Softsynths |
