Lemur for iPad Example

A recent thread here on Korg Forums posed a question about triggering an individual pad and having that pad sustain until the next pad is triggered. In thinking about this problem, I realized that this would be a good project to use to learn about controlling the Kronos from the new Lemur for iPad.

My experience with the Lemur app for iPad so far has been really great. The app is not cheap by iPad app standards ($49), but is much less expensive than the original Lemur, and is really flexible and powerful. The editor is not difficult to use and interacts dynamically with the Lemur.

For this example, the pads are mapped to 'keys' below the range of the k88's keyboard, but this can be changed in the Lemur editor easily.

Again, this is just a very beginning template as an example, but if anyone finds other ways that they would like to further develop ways to utilize this app with the Kronos, I'll be happy to collaborate.

(Just to be clear, I don't have anything to do with the liine people, I just think it's a cool app.)

the audio is too low even with the level at max on my iPad.

He should zoom in when editing the settings for the Lemur app.

Looks good otherwise. if only I could hear it fully.

Thanks for the link. Need more of this for the Lemur with Kronos.

I almost got the original lemur but the cost always stopped me. Thanks for a great little intro, I think this would be a fun addition to my Kronos setup.
Would love to see any more examples you might have that you found useful.

I resurrect this thread as the Lemur app is currently 50% off. At now only €22.00, it becomes an attractive proposition as a pad controller for your Kronos.

For that price, get it, get it now. There are so many useful templates for many synths and software. Even if you never learn to script it's great.

What kind of interface are most of you using with Lemur? Can you simply connect it with the camera kit and a USB cable?

Another question is, just exactly what can you do with it?

I use it with the Kronos with camera kit and USB. I made a simple template that's kinda like a Kaoss pad so I can make a big dancy noise sweep with one finger while playing something else with my other hand (in a combi, of course).

I use it with my home buikt Shruthi-1 to edit it (someone made a great template for it), for that I need the camera kit and a regular USB midi device. I use it the same way to edit my buddy's Microkorg. I've used it in a pinch as a Traktor controller over wifi, and they're actually two really good Ableton templates - one made by the Liine and one nut who created something that mimics the new Ableton "Push" controller, called "Shove".

If you like experimental stuff it's especially amazing. Combine it with something like Reaktor and you'll go nuts.

But it's not for everyone. For use with JUST the Kronos and little interest in custom templates I don't think it'd be worth it. You can browse the available templates on their site though, that should give you an idea.
