|

Hi all, very recent Kronos 88 owner here (2 days in)! I had a MOX6 that I returned (not enough polyphony, and I really wanted sliders), and I got used to the Yamaha layout, so I am still learning how to set up basic programming and such. I have started to read the manual, but it is quite overwhelming, so I figured I'd go here to get a little help.
Basically I have 2 questions about Combi mode. I am trying to get a set together of some sounds I would use frequently in church, that I could layer and split as I would need. My questions are:
1) I want to create a pad in the lower part of the keyboard, that will just continue to sound until I changed chords, and then THAT chord will continue to sound. I have the pad chosen, have it split to the lower part of the keyboard, now I can't seem to figure out how to get it to continually sound until I change chords. Any tips or walkthrough (or even refer me to where it is in the manual).
2) I have 2 sounds layered, piano in Timbre channel #1, and strings in channel #2. I want to edit the release time of the strings only, but every time I go into the controls, no matter what I try the "release" knob on the control panel of the board controls BOTH the piano and the strings. How can I make it JUST control strings?
Thanks in advance all, I'm sure this is in the owners manual, but I'm still trying to get through that without pulling out all my hair being overwhelmed lol! |

that is done by setting up your keyboard in zones. Timbre 1 for instance could be a pad on midichannel 2. Then you need to setup KARMA to trigger the pad sound based on your chord. There is a KARMA GE that can produce continues pads, so it can be done.
However to be honest. If you just have your Kronos for 2 days, then that's to complicated to setup at this point. You need to get acquinted with the keyboard and terminology before you can do this.
You could start with some of the tutorials posted online here or on wikilab.

That one is easy, just press the tone control button and press the timbre knob for the strings. Now the 8 faders control the Filter EG and the Amp EG. Fader 8 edit the release time of the strings in that case. |

Thanks for the tip! I was able to do this quickly after reading your post. Still alot of knobs and slider settings that I move around and have no idea what they do, but im learning, lol!
Also, I was able to make a new program for the pad I wanted to hold, and important it to the combination mode with the real time bend Karma GE as recommended by the post suggested by Idascanio (thanks so much for suggesting that, great instructions!), now I just need to figure out how to get the Karma and latch button to only effect that sound in the combi and ill be good! |

The Karma On/Off and Latch affect all modules being used.
What you want to do is turn Off the Karma Module Switches in the Control panel that you choose not to hear. _________________ Lou |
