I am having issues with the quality of the sound output from my Pa2X. The Keyboard sound sounds great from the headphone but on the PA system in the Church where I use it, it sounds horrible. No stereo effect, no clarity, NO sound at all at very low expression/volume. I was considering using a DI box. I am not sure which one is best for the Pa2X. I also want to use only one channel of the Mixer console for the keyboard. Has anyone ever used any DI Box with good results? Any advice please. I need to buy one real quick.

Hi Zack,
How long is the instrument cable going from your keyboard to the console? DI box is not going to improve the quality of your sound really. In fact , if you're within a reasonable distance from the console, you won't even notice the difference.

The keyboard is a good 100 feet away from the console.

hmmm, you're pretty far from the console. You could definitely use a DI in this case. It may or may not solve all your problems though. A DI basically drops the line level signal to the Mic level, and then you can use the XLR inputs of the console.

Edit: For some reason I thought you said 100 Meters, but still 100 feet is considered a long run somewhat. It would still improve your signal.

Yep totally agree with Sam...

Anything over 20 feet and forget your stand TS jack (mono)...you will need either a DI, OR run a pair of balanced cables from the PA2X will work too...

I believe the PA2X outputs are stereo, but are auto sensing if a mono jack is inserted...

So get a stereo jack (TRS) to XLR cable of the length you need. Make sure the XLR end matches the mixer...For standard configs, the XLR going into a mixer is female...

If an XLR is used for the PA (as in speaker system Wink ) send from the mixer to the amps, it is usually a male.

If the PA2x outputs are ONLY mono (but I am sure they are stereo) then indeed you will NEED a DI box. Only to get the mono signals to the XLR level, or MIC instead of line level....

To repeat, always keep mono instrument cables to 20 feet MAX...less if you can get away with it.

Thanks for all the advise.
Let me try a DI.
How about Radial JDI, with two channels IN and one merged channel OUT?
Any advice on this?

If you plug into L/Mono out its merged automatically so I dont think there would be any benefit of using L + R into a stereo to mono box.
