|

I like the Arturia The Laboratory 49 or 61 very much. Is anybody using one of these with Kronos? How are your experiences?
Thanks in advance... _________________ Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff... |

Ok, 126 views an no reaction... Seems like nobody uses this one.
Is anybody using auxiliary-keyboards? Which ones?
Right now I´m using either a Roland A-37, which has a great keyboard, but no controllers, or a Yamaha KX-49, which has a few, but a terrible keyboard.
Both of them need to be connected via midi-cable.
I would prefer USB-connection, so it should be class compliant.
Any recommendations? _________________ Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff... |

I wouldn't buy anything from Arturia ever again because of their very poor support.
They don't even use their own Ticket System.

Sharp. |

I'm using an M-Audio Axiom 61 (and some other drawbar controllers). Works like a charm though I had to build a gizmo to translate MIDI CCs to Kronos sysex to operate the drawbars.

I have the Kronos 61, so my 88 controller is a Casio PX-3. While the USB connection works fine for playing, I'm using MIDI because I like where the connectors are better, and it leaves the USB free on the Casio (for input to a DAW). In just some brief testing, I didn't find a noticeable difference in the response time between MIDI and USB. I wonder if others have. _________________ Kronos 61, Kronos2-88, Hammond B3, Baldwin SD-10 |

Yes-this looks perfect for my purposes, thanks. Does Kronos recognize and power it via usb? _________________ Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff... |

The Axiom 61 works with the Kronos directly via USB and is USB powered from the K. So Yes:-)
The pads does not automap with the Axiom though. |

Thank you for your quick answer. Just ordered one, the new one is even in black, so it suits perfectly to Kronos.
@cpilot: I would be very much interested in your "gizmo" _________________ Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff... |

The gizmo in question is a little box containing a microprocessor and the standard midi interfaces. Currently only works with the Axiom 61 and any other controller that does not use running status. It only transmits sysex for the lower drawbars and passes note on/off messages. I'm working on expanding the program to include running status and more features but that's going to take a while. I'm not building any more but I can send you the schematic and the program.

I connected Arturia the lab 49 to a Kronos. It works very well, with filter lfo and ADSR controllers mapped already. I am excited at getting the BC3 to control patches and show the Kronos a good blow Job!! It is a very solid CME controller. The keys are a little spongy on return. _________________ Korg M3, MicroKorg, Radias, Monotron, 707; Kronos 61, miniPops |

You can use the drawbars and all the other controls on the Kronos with your midid keyboard, when Karma is on. Just connect a cable from the midi out of the Kronos to the midi in of your midikeyboard. When you dont want the the karmamodules actually to work, just change the midichannels of the modules to a channel you dont use. You even can use your sustainpedal connected to the Kronos with the midikeyboard. It works in my setup. _________________ Kronos88, M-audio Axiom 61

Hi Keekma
We're talking about operating the Kronos CX-3 drawbars from an external keyboard, not the other way round.

Ok, I misunderstood. I was pointing out that there is a way of using the drawbars of the Kronos, when you play the Kronos with a midikeyboard.

Too bad... would have loved it the other way round
@cpilot: Thanks for your offer, but i´m neither a electronic technician nor a programmer, so it won´t help me.
Maybe we have other collegues in the forum who could do this? _________________ Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff... |

Maybe this gizmo http://www.midisolutions.com/prodepp.htm could do the job? |
