My personal opinion, now that I have a Kronos 61 in hand is that the EQ settings out of the box on Pianos for example are kinda lame. I got alot more of of them when I tweaked the 3 band EQ. For most, I cranked the bottom end and the high end and it was like night and day (for me). They came life, even more so than out of the box. Could just be my monitors too. But I also have a Triton Le, R3, and Motif XF and they seemed to have more beef than the Koronos stock patches when hooked up to the same system. I think with a little flavorful tweaking of the EQ, you will see a big difference.

I felt that the gentleman playing the Kronos 61 seemed to be a bit tentative in his playing whereas the fellow on the Nord appeared to have more confidence. I've found on many keyboards that playing "ballsy" helps to get a bigger sound. The guy on the Kurzweil is playing hard too. I've played on both weighted and unweighted keyboards for years. Toured Europe for 3 years with unweighted keys and had no problem doing piano simulations. I've also toured here in Canada with a Fender Rhodes for more than half a decade. Heavy bastard but sounded great.
I would not say that the Nord or the Kurzweil sounded better. Just different. That would also apply to the Kronos.
What the Kronos has over the other 2 is that it is far more versatile and powerful. 9 synth engines? The other two run away crying for their mommies! And how many effects do the other 2 have simultaneously? Speak up. i can't hear you!. Yeah, I thought so. Not as many.

I guess what I am saying is simply this. Although both the Nord and the Kurzweil are very very good keyboards and both do things the other can't do as well, the Kronos has them beat by a lot. None are inexpensive but for only a little bit more you get all that Korg has to offer.
Think about it. Is either the Nord or the Kurzweil a recording studio?
