Rather than hijack Old Guy's thread and have two discussions for two different peoples' needs, I decided simply to create my own-

I too am in the market for studio monitors. I'm looking for something to accurately portray my mixes as clean and uncolored as possible- or perhaps, with controllable color knobs (treble/mid/bass boost etc)

A 2.0 setup that can portray bass nice would be great, a 2.1 is acceptable as well.

What are some options in a $100-$250 price range, preferably starting on the lower cost side?

Thanks!

I'm not the resident expert, but from my personal experience I would say save a bit more than that, because anything in that price range will probably not deliver what you're hoping for.

Even the simplest KRK Rokits go for about 150e a piece here and they won't really give you much bass at all. For a 100 to 200 the best you can hope for is a decent set of computer speakers and those won't really give you "clean and uncolored".

Alright- so I'm still looking for suggestions closer to the $150-200 range (for two monitors and potentially a subwoofer, but not as necessary), but suggestions closer to $250-350 would be welcomed as well.
