|
|
Hi All,
I am new to this forum so Please forgive me if the is question been already asked before.
I am after a 2 dozen of MS2000 sounds , all custom made but I am debating between purchasing a new R3 or a used MS2000 ?
If I know that all those custom patches could be loaded into R3 then I'll definatly will go with R3 otherwise I might settle for a used MS2000.
By the way I have zero experience with Synths (Owner of a PA3X arranger) but very good understanding of computer /ized stuff.
Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks, |

| You can't technically "load" MS2000 patches onto the R3, but the R3 engine is similar enough to where you can recreate MS2000 patches if you are familiar with synth programming and have access to all the parameter numbers as a guideline. The only major difference between the two is that the MS2000 has three mod sequencers per timbre, whereas the R3 only has one. |

Thanks for the reply,
But lets say if i get the patches just as a File, is there any software/ program that I could load them into it and lookup the parameters and basically duplicate them manually over in R3 ?
Thanks. |

NO
You'll have to try to get the editor for each one and really just do a side-by-side comparison. This would be a good app if someone could code it, but it currently doesn't exist.
Are the sounds you're after really "custom" sounds or are they the presets from the MS2000? If they're the default sounds, you should know that there's a free MS2000 soundpack for R3 available. |

There is actually an MS-2000 editor, but it isn't free, nor is it official Korg software. Korg never released an editor for the MS-2000:

It seems like it should be possible to open a .syx patch file and see the parameters for the patches without even having an MS-2000 attached, but I can't say for certain. |

I guess I would take the MS2K route and be happy with an vintage synth than a R3.
Thanks for all your replies. |
