Hey guys, I recently picked up johnbarnesiii's M3-M so you'll prob see me hanging around this forum a lot more. I'm going through the Stephen Kay overview tutorials which are a big help. The section that talks about the drum track switch on video 2 uses the program B070 Thumb Bass 1 as an example. On my M3 it shows that Program U-A062 is the correct program...
I did a factory reset and am running the newest OS. Its my understanding that the Kay videos are fairly old so is the placement discrepancy due to different operating systems? Could he perhaps be running the producer preset data? _________________ Computer: HackBook Pro 13" 2.66GHz Core2Duo, 8g RAM, 120gSSD+320gHD, SnowLeopard 10.6.8

Thanks for the quick reply, Kimu. I checked the links and you're exactly correct. Seems the presets are just moved around due to the OS change.
I have another question, why are drum track programs repeated a bunch of times, in a seemingly random order? My system will show POWER Kit listed a bunch of times, then an instance of ELECTRONIC Kit in slot g(d) 025, and then ANALOG Kit from 027-032. Are these just meant to be tweaked and saved over?
It doesn't bother me, just seems odd. _________________ Computer: HackBook Pro 13" 2.66GHz Core2Duo, 8g RAM, 120gSSD+320gHD, SnowLeopard 10.6.8

all the program in G bank are for playing back MIDI files... so some programs are repeated from other banks.
i mean, the order in which sounds are saved in G bank follows the MIDI specification, so you are sure that a MIDI file played back using G Bank's programs will have the correct sound for each midi track. |

Hi Charles
I notice you have an RME fireface 800. I just got one, still in the box, and have a Korg M3 as well. I was wondering if you would share how you hooked your m3 to the FF800 or if you had any hints. I got the FF800 because my current interface, to pro tools 10, is an Avid Eleven rack but I needed more flexibility. I plan on slaving the Eleven to the Ff800's clock and connecting it via coaxial spdif.
Thank you
Fred |

Hello Fred, I'm still in the process of integrating the M3. I bought the thing just recently and ordered all the exb boards, including the firewire board. The eventual plan is to make an aggregate audio device and an FX and instrument bus dedicated to the M3 in Cubase. I haven't ironed out the fine details yet but when everything is worked out I'll post a video of my setup on youtube. _________________ Computer: HackBook Pro 13" 2.66GHz Core2Duo, 8g RAM, 120gSSD+320gHD, SnowLeopard 10.6.8
