hello all, I'm trying to record part of a song with the SW2 switch ON because it adds to a certain area of the sequence (but not the whole song)...problem is that even though I thought I read that SW on/off would be recorded by the sequencer as MIDI information, but it isn't. The switch either stays on, or off. I created a pattern with a specific on and off message but it didn't record that way. I tried to record with the switch just on in hopes that it would automatically switch OFF after I stopped recording. It just stayed on. It is assigned as Mod Controller #80 to the filter. Is it possible to record changes made with the SW switches in a track? thanks!

SW2 is cc# 81. SW1 is cc# 80.

Are you sure the pattern you created is for SW2 or might it be for SW1? Can you see the control data when you view the track in Event Edit?

In any case, make sure that whatever track you recorded it on is not muted.

sorry about getting the numbers switched. Anyway, The pattern exists just as I play/recorded it (note wise) except that it will not remember the SW1 information. But if I turn the switch on while the song is playing (as long as I have that track selected) the switch does engage and open the filter. SO, I tried overdubbing that information onto the track. Again, the Switch stays on or off in real time. The information (filter on) was NOT recorded onto the track. I tried the same thing in a pattern, again it WILL play but won't remain in the pattern. As far as event edit..all it calls up is the filter. I know the Joystick information will record so maybe I'll try to switch the AMS source to the that. The joys of learning a new keyboard!!!

It's perfectly possible to record the SW1 or SW2 on/off in the sequencer. It's also possible to record this control data in a RPPR user pattern and have it play back.

Check the MIDI Filter 2 page and make sure the SW1 or SW2 is enabled for the track you want the filter to be affected.

Apart from that possibility, I'm not sure what the problem could be.

I would probably erase all of the CC 80 or 81 data from all tracks, and try again.

holy crap..I figured out a way to do it. In Track Edit mode I just created a controller and assigned CC#80 to the measures that I wanted it and now SW1 goes on when that measure starts and then off at the end of the last measure that I wanted it for!! So, WHY couldn't I get it to record that way??

as always, thanks for the help. MIDI filter has everything enabled so I still don't know why it wouldn't allow me just to record the phrase!
