How in th world do I do that?

Unfortunately that's exactly what happened when I upgraded to 1.5. I had to buy a USB DVD drive and reinstall the OS from the supplied DVD's (losing all my User Data in the process - I didn't have a back-up).
Instructions for reinstalling the system software in the Kronos manual. _________________ Synth DIY Projects |

Had to reinstall mine (was lucky that the core of 1.6 had installed)....
The editor wouldn't find the Kronos.
Reinstalled (in seconds) and all is good.
imho, kinda pointless, but good (that it works) _________________ Yamaha SY77 & KX88, SSL Nucleus, Korg Kronos 61, Wavestation A/D, Access Virus B, Roland XP30, DeepMind12D, System 1m, V-Synth XT, Focusrite Red16Line, Unitor 8, Akai S3000 XL, Alesis Quadraverb+, Focal Shape Twins, Full fat iMac, Logic Pro X, ProTools 2021, loadsa plugins.

I've just followed alchemist music studio's procedure post and had no problem, now to get the K and PC speaking to one another and Sonar, and see if Project 5 will play with it, as that's ridiculously friendly software. |

Thanks Kronik for the quick reply!
I was hoping I didn't have to go out and buy any extra hardware.
Off to Best Buy!

Quick follow up. Got an external DVD drive, and system will still not boot up. Called Korg Support, and they are recommending that I bring it into the shop to get fixed. Could be: Bad HD, memory became unseated, Bad recovery DVD.
I needed to get the keyboard fixed anyway, so...off it goes. |

Did the system not boot up directly from the DVD drive and recovery disks? Or did you manage to reinstall the OS again and THEN it didn't boot?
Apparently there are some ext USB drives that the Kronos won't recognise... there's a thread somewhere. _________________ Synth DIY Projects |

my only problem is midi even though i have installed the usb drivers from korg. When dumping all of kronos to the editor i get "error". In the midi window data shows that they communicate, but nothing happens. Guess i have to re-install editor.. |

All my installs seem to haved worked, but the editor can't find the K, even though that is working fine, and says 1.6; so, like sccoby, I think I'll reinstall the os, and see what happens. That'll have to wait for tomorrow now, though, as I'm tired, and it's time for an hour on Skyrim |

Kronic,
It did not boot directly from the DVD drive.
I read the threads on the forums and got a model that worked for others.
No bueno here, though. The story of my life.
Just got off the phone with the repair center, it's gonna be in the shop a LONG time.

Another update.
After rebooting the Kronos 8 times, it recognized the DVD drive om the 9th attempt.
So I start to reinstall 1.06 OS, and I'm told the drive does not have enough power.
So I plug both USB jacks from the DVD drive into my powered hub, and plug the hub into the Kronos.
Sill no love.
Seriously, why no reinstall from USB memory stick? Or reinstall from a computer?
My friend has a very old powered DVD drive she's bringing over. I hope the Kronos recognizes it.
Blerg.
It's still going in the shop regardless, to get the new keybed.
