Hi all!
Got my daughter a Thomann Dp50 over the weekend with an eye on miding up the Korg M3 module when she wasn't using it! So I made the appropiate conncections loaded up the Stereo Piano Ex4 to and hit the keys. To my suprise some after playing a few notes the sound started to cut out like a midi reset / ran out of polyphony etc. Tried a few other programs and the same thing! Checked connections everthing was ok. I assuse the controller was sending midi messages via surely this shouldn't affect the sound should it? Any help / previous experience greatly appreciated! |

Hey, I just registered to say I have exactly the same problem happening to me and I tried to tweak all the stuff on M3 global midi settings and without any success.
So the sound just cuts off sometimes. I got this pretty crappy SP5500 88 key keyboard, but it has a midi out/in. I can't choose the channel where it sends the notes, the sp5500 just sends them to the Kord M3 global channel.
And the most weird thing is that, when I plug the MIDI cable M3 cuts the sound aswell when I'm playing with the M3! And I wasn't even using combis.
Would here be anyone to know what to do? |

I use M3 all time controlling it only via MIDI without any such problems.
But if I had any then I'd do some midi monitoring with computer software to find out if the controlling gear sends midi properly. _________________ Korg KronosX & M3 & Pa2x Pro Reaper NI Komplete 8/Kore 2 Omnisphere Usine soundcloud.com/allandd |

Hi!
If you are using two midi-cables then it may be that you have made
a midi-loop and this will eat up polyphony.
Test with only one cable from the keyboard midi-out to the M3 module
midi-in.

I have usually studio and gig setup where (talking about midi routing here only):
1) Korg Pa2x sends/receives USB midi to computer and DIN5 (cable to midi out) to M3. Pa2x as master control also sends clock.
2) M3M (sometimes with keybed too) sends/receives USB midi to computer and receives DIN5 midi (cable to midi in) from Pa2x
3) Computer receives Pa2x midi over USB and drives several VSTi-s here. Computer sends midi control (mostly program change) messages over USB to M3 and Pa2x.
So mainly I control my M3M from KorgPa2x - note on/off, sustain, joystick and other control messages. I am using quite demanding and rich combis to complement my layered sounds from M3. I have not noticed any cutoffs from M3M side.
If I'd have such situation I'd try to reproduce situation where M3M cuts off sounds and analyze midi (with computer tools) it receives. If this cutoff happens just randomly then it is much harder to catch. _________________ Korg KronosX & M3 & Pa2x Pro Reaper NI Komplete 8/Kore 2 Omnisphere Usine soundcloud.com/allandd |
