|

simple :
why I can load and play this file :
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2307708/157%20CP70_07_F5.wav
but not this file :
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2307708/MellotrSTR05.wav
the two files are the same format the only difference is the lenght, the file name and, of course, the sound...
kronos don't give to me no one error loanding the second sample...just it don't play and dont' load...
all the sample are stored on a usb key, I have tryed different usb memory but the result is the same...
thank you |

Looks to me like the file header information in MellotrSTR05 is corrupt. I tried opening the file in Peak (which will try to open pretty much any file if you tell it to do so), re-saved it, and then tried it on the KRONOS; it worked. In both Peak and the KRONOS, however, there's a glitch at the end of the sound.
Looking at the original and re-saved files in a hex editor, there is a difference in the four Chunk Data Size bytes. If these don't match the data, assuming that the file is corrupt is a valid approach (and given the glitch at the end, the file may indeed be corrupt). It might be nice to do as Peak does and just try to play it anyway, however. _________________ Dan Phillips

strange, windows play the second file normally, the glitch at the end look like a sample truncation (the file have a loop generated with crossfade loop so it, when played, not will be played until the end),
SoundForge open the 2 file correctly and, at the end, the same sample was loaded correctly time ago inside a Fantom g6.... |

The Chunk Data Size appears to be incorrect, which would mean that the file is either corrupt, or was created by a program which was not quite following the WAV file specification. Some systems may ignore this anomaly. Looking around the net, I see various mentions of problems with programs creating improperly formatted WAV files - and that some programs have responded to this by being more tolerant of these not-to-spec files. As I wrote, it might be nice for the KRONOS to do as Peak does and just try to play it anyway.
For now, the solution is to open the file in a trusted editor and re-save it.
Hope this helps!
