From my examination of the PROG P2: OSC/Pitch GUI & the Parameter Guide, it seems impossible to key map individual samples from the ROM or EXB sample pools. It seems we can only select Multisamples. Is this true?

I assume that I could make single samples myself in sampling mode and map those in the Sampling mode before selecting them in the Program edit area, but it seems a shame to not be able to use (individually/selectively) all those sounds included with the M3. Part of the fun in S&S is abusing audio & re-pitching it "inappropriately." Is there no way to do that with the M3's included sounds (without resampling them)?

You are not limited to drum sounds in building a drum kit, you should be able to build a multi sample kit that plays essentially as an instrument. For instance you could put a different synth wave on every key.

I don't know if that's the sort of thing you're trying to do, but at least partial access to all the waves is doable in this manner.

No, I'm not trying to do drum kits. I want to stretch a sample outside its native frequency/pitch ("old style" sampling?).

I "grew up on" MOD music (Amiga Soundtracker format), which gave me an appreciation for weird soundscapes that turned out to be common sounds when played at their proper rate Wink

I have a V-Synth XT, which I know is ideal for sound destruction, but I'm trying to familiarize myself with what my M3m can do. Part of me wants to sell it, since I can't really comprehend what motivated me to buy it in the first place (I was on psych drugs at the time, which made me act on every impulse), but I have hopes of finding a proper place for the M3 among my sound tools, instead of "wasting" the fact that it was bought at all. It's clearly a good piece of hardware but I'm not fond of its rather normal & polite presets (I love acoustic sounds too much to fully enjoy the rather medium quality of the acoustic sounds in the M3/EXBs, though they're probably quite good in a full mix, & the synth sounds are just disinteresting to me). So I'm learning to program it. The more I can destroy & mutate a sound, the happier I am Wink

I think that's Bill's point though. You can achieve the effect you want by using drumkits and pitching each individual sample far from its normal frequency.

It looks as though setting the OSC mode to Drums leaves me locked to Multisamples too, & it only allows one OSC.

Drum Kits only allow one key/note per sample, so I couldn't play a sample beyond one pitch.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Can you give a step-by-step?

*resample* If you only want lets say key c4 of a sound and thats it. sample it and map it where u want it to be
