I'm using a MicroKorg XL on stage with my band, with a basic sawtooth sound. We experimented in the studio for our new album by layering it with a pulse wave, which sounded very cool.

I tried to recreate the sound by using the two voices layered on the MicroKorg XL, but now most of the time it sounds "off". I copied the basic sound to the second voice and changed the wave form, nothing else.

Is it possible the waves don't match properly, sometimes causing an "out of tune" sound? And how do I fix it? I'm quite new to synths and the whole wave thing, but I want to understand. As a guitar player, all I had to to was tune and ram the strings Smile

The MKXL has the same engine as the R3 and Radias, so the following should apply...

By default, each timbre has a parameter called "Analog Tune" in the Pitch menus that's set to about 10 I think. This causes the pitch of the entire timbre to slightly detune at random. Just find that parameter and set it to zero for both layers.
