|
|
I just uploaded my tutorial "Hal's Hints: How to Create and Use a Set List - Korg Kronos Tutorial 101". Here's the Table of Contents to see if you already know everything.
1. Create a new custom Set List for every song performance
2. Make up your own Title Name for every new Set List
3. Separately EQ individual Set Lists for different song styles or venue acoustics
4. Write a Setlist Comment as a reminder note to yourself before/during play
5. Use Cut, Copy, Paste, and Insert commands
6. Configure an ordinary sustain/switch Foot Pedal to advance the Setlist
Here’s the link to the new tutorial: http://youtu.be/thK0jOOSfeo
Background Note: After I uploaded my live performance song, “Let’s Remember This Day” to YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjRskF5Yhgw&feature=plcp - I received requests to explain how I create and use the Kronos’ Set List function. When I first got my Kronos (never had a Korg keyboard before) I just kept adding programs/combis for all my songs to the default “Preload Set List” until all but one page was filled - all because I was too excited to give up playing my brand new Kronos to read the Manual. Now, I make new setlists for each song and benefit from the advantages. Hope this is useful to you. Hal _________________ My Music: www.youtube.com/Halunlimited

Great stuff.
Thanks for sharing. | Yes, that's the doubly-safest habit to have. It's always better to do an extra save than be one short. Thanks. Hal _________________ My Music: www.youtube.com/Halunlimited

What's next ? | Thanks. I'm open to suggestions. I want to concentrate on the more basic, essential, bread and butter, toolkit techniques. I'm going for the 80/20 rule where 20% of the basic techniques will get 80% of all your work done. I am far from being an advanced player but I am pretty good at explaining things simply. The fancier stuff I leave to others who have already put up really great tutorials (e.g. QuiRobinez). So, if it looks like my video style is working, then let me know what I should consider for future uploads. BTW: A few people asked me what song I used as backround music for the intro and ending of the tutorial. FYI its: http://youtu.be/LV0nuaLIb5w (entirely done on Kronos - I know some people have knocked the Kronos strings and/or guitars, but there are some plenty good strings/guitar sounds there if you look for them IMO. Sound beauty is in the ear of the beholder. _________________ My Music: www.youtube.com/Halunlimited

Another good topic is to use the Control Surface to make realtime tweaks to Program and Combi. Maybe even include how to customize the Tone Adjust section to use specific parameters to tweak. _________________ Current gear: Access Virus TI2 Whiteout Keyboard (111/150), Access Virus TI2 Polar DarkStar Special Edition, Gibson Custom Lite 2013, Roland MV-8800 |

Question!
Why is it when I save a combie or program to set list when I shut down and re-boot it's not there anymore? I have gone through the user guide set lists pages 111 to 117 several times now.
This has been frustrating me for a while now _________________ Present Gear

This has been frustrating me for a while now | After you "Add to Set List" all the programs or combos you selected for your new Set List, you then have to "Write Set List" the completed job to save the full Set List you just made. You have to save the new Set List via "Write Set List" command before leaving the newly active Set List, otherwise it will not come up on the next reboot. _________________ My Music: www.youtube.com/Halunlimited

This has been frustrating me for a while now | I checked my Tutorial Video and see that your question is directly addressed and illustrated (with my finger showing which tabs to press) on the timeline between minutes 4:50-6:12. So you can go back to that part of the video for clarification. Bottom line, you have to use the "Write Set List" save in order for the Set List to be permanently stored and show up on the next reboot. Two different types of saves are involved. The video instructions should help. Here's the link: http://youtu.be/thK0jOOSfeo _________________ My Music: www.youtube.com/Halunlimited
