I've been reading and reading through different sites, the manual, the MIDI implementation chart and I've come to the conclusion that controlling mute/solo simply isn't possible via midi.

I have an ES1 and my vision was to control it remotely via trigger pads (trigger pad to trigger/midi converter to midi-solutions event processor plus to ES1) and or a foot switch.

The ES1 can accept program change messages in realtime and will trigger the samples as 'one-offs' remotely, but when I've sent nrpn messages to it via midiox, it doesn't respond to the mute nrpn's.

I've watched the midiox input monitor to see what nrpn's are set when pressing mute manually and based on the midi chart from korg, the nrpn's should be:

BA 62 05
BA 63 6B
BA 06 01

BA 62 05
BA 63 6C
BA 06 00

Has anyone ever remotely controlled mute/solo in realtime?

I am having the same issue with EMX-1.
Has anybody figured out how to get the NRPN messages to mute /unmute parts?

I ended up just sending MIDI to turn the volume of the part to zero to mute it.

Thanks for the reply, I had to come up with a workaround too.
I send PAN and use it MONO (if I send Vol it messesmmup my levels which are balanced on my pattern). It is a shame that I end up using a stereo synth in MONO, but that's the only solution I could come up with.
This is for an EMX, but I guess MIDI implementation is not that different.

Send MUTE signals is a mess. You have to send simultaneously all synth part and drum part bits. You can't just toggle 1.
