Hi, i have both, the M50 and the Krome.
The KROME can read M50 PCG Files. All Names, settings to the Keyboard Layout, Splittings, Layers, Midi Channels, FX etc. are correct.
All PROGRAM sounds from the M50 can be found in the Krome too, sounding the same (The wave Rom is the same except the Grand Piano taken from the Kronos). But there is one little Problem:
Some of the Programs have other Storage Numbers in the Krome than in the M50. Exampe: PROG A048=String Ensemble on the M50, but Staccato Strings on the Krome. So if you use a Combi with a nice string ensemble to build a Pad, this will sound staccato... not funny. The appropiate Sound "String Ensemble" is located on A057 on the Krome. This is just an EXAMPLE! So in this example you have to change PROG A048 to PROG A057 inside your Combi, and it will sound exact like it sounded on the M50.
Another Example: The M50 Grand Piano plays the M1 Piano on the Krome, not really a satisfying sound. But you can use the A000 Krome Grand instead, this one is the Grand from the Kronos and sounds way better than the Grand of the M50

So in the end this means:
YES, Krome CAN handle PCG files of the M50 (but not vice versa!!) very fine, but some (not all, just a handfull) PROG's are located on different Memory Slots. So in some cases you need to tweak a little on your Combis. but this is way less work than programming it all from scratch.
cheers, Oliver

There is solution for different locations of the M50 programs.
Yo can load a whole PCG memory of the M50 - including programs and combis and that's it.But don't forget to do backup of your sounds. What is different is that Korme is missing some waveforms from M50 and they are replaced by similar samples in the programs. So affected programs sounds different. I remember reading M3 programs but not sure if they have been somehow converted to M50 PCGs or are readable directly as are the M50 PCGs on the Krome.
