I recently bought a Pandora mini to use with my bass (Fender USA Jazz). In addition to general noisiness, a great number of the presets have a very high-pitched ringing.
This ringing gets muted with the NR/gate (but is constant if you disable NR). It seems to be especially associated with reverb and delay. I searched and was surprised to find that only a few people that have mentioned/complained about it- I find this hard to believe as it is very prominent to me. One explanation might be that this high-pitched noise is masked somewhat with high-gain guitar patches? Maybe others are using cheaper headphones? Maybe it only does it with certain guitar/pickup types? I don't know, but I'd be curious to hear if others are experiencing this. Do the other models (PX4B, PX5D) have the same problem?
I have been using my unit with all effects/amps/cabs disabled which works ok with bass, and since I got this primarily for warming up before a gig and for practicing in the van on road trips. When everything is disabled the high ringing and all the other noisiness goes away. It's pretty disappointing to not be able to use the effects and simulations, but they are just too noisy and I get ear fatigue very quickly. _________________ _________________

When it works (about once a year or so), my PX5D does have a slight ringing, but it's rather faint. Then again, the max volume on this thing is about -48dB or so. _________________ Cheers! Yoa

Pardon the necropost, but I'm baffled by the many demos that don't reveal this ringing, yet it's quite imposing on my PXMINI. The ringing changes pitch when you change the transposition feature, so I assume it's internal to the device and not an interaction with cable capacitance, etc. Note that I'm not talking about hiss or white noise; rather the distinct high-pitched ringing on many presets when not playing, or when notes sustain.
Has anyone found a way to reduce or remove the ringing? Thanks! |

I have no idea how to remove the ringing, but you may want to open it up and look for anything (even dust) that can cause problems. It seems like it might be a clock signal bleeding out. _________________ Cheers! Yoa
