Very nice tutorial, Sharp
Seems to work sometimes for me, but very often the sound is cutting off within a sample and goes on later. Very often there is a huge gap where the sound is just cutting off. Any idea how to fix that? |

Yes, that can happen with some VSTi's which use a certain kind of copy protection system. To bypass this, simply use the second option in the menu "VST Converter Real-Time" instead of the "VST Converter".
The only down side to this is the auto sampling will take a lot longer, but it will work with every VSTi.

Thanks much James...
Dennis
PS: I don't suppose you have one for converting the sf2 into the Kronos format to save to user banks? |

Just do "save sampling mode data" in the disk mode, that's all. It'll create the userbank file for you. If you want, you can add it to your autoload in the Global/KSC Auto-Load page. |

Thank you so much Sharp You really made my day! I was working so long to fix that, and that simple idea did not came into my mind. Really takes a long time for 88 keys with 5 velocioty layers But it seems like it's the only way to go in connection with omnisphere. |

One quick follow up question - how doe s one "import" the sf2 into the sampler in the first place?
All I seem to be able to do is load the sf2 direct to a User bank...does that mean I do not need to go through the sampling process at all?
Or is it better to somehow get the sf2 file into the sampling engine?
Thanks |

An SF2 also contains (or can contain) very basic program settings so yes, it goes straight to a program. You don't have to deal with sampling mode at all unless you need to change the mapping or something. The samples are still loaded of course, as you will see if you go into sampling mode. |

Hi Dennis.

There's no “Import” as you would find it on a KORG Arranger. You simply select the file in disk mode and load it the exact same way you would load any file.

When you load a SF2 file, it's samples and multisample are loaded into the SAMPLER as normal, and those multisamples are then assigned to a program.
So at this stage, everything is running off of RAM and you can see your samples in the SAMPLER if you go there.
When you save the data back to disk, it's at this point all the KORG native files are generated, and you get two KSC files. One is a User Bank, and the other is a RAM KSC file.
When you load the library using the User Bank KSC, your streaming data from the SSD.
If you want to edit your samples in SAMPLING mode, you have to load the RAM KSC.
You can tell the KSC files apart by the length of their names. The Streaming one will have a long name, and the RAM one will have a short name.
Regards

Here's a guide on how to convert a VST into a SF2 for use on your KRONOS, using Extreme Sample Converter.
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD
This covers how to automate the process too, so while there are 26 steps to all this, once you setup the automation, it becomes a few clicks to convert a VST sound into a SF2 for the KRONOS.

No, I don't think so. If you can save as Kontakt 3 format it may? |

Or.... Load kontakt 5 in ESC and Auto Sample any sound, even encrypted libraries.
Downloading the demo version is always a good idea.
