The weights on the black keys of my CX-3 (2000+ version) have started to fall off the the keys. I found 7-8 of the weights inside the cabinet after taking off the top panel.

Anybody having a description of how to disassemble the organ so I can glue the weights on the keys againg? Have sourced the net for photos or service manual without any luck.

I had the same thing happen to me. I would not glue them back on they will let loose again. They are not nessecary, you can get by without them or I would just replace the keys. I had mine worked on at a local music store and had all the black keys replaced when i took mine in. I have not had any luck finding a service manual either.

Thanks for your advice. I do not think it would be easy to find a service technician and spare parts where I live. To be honest I do not feel much difference when hitting a black key with or without the weight. But on release a key without weight will return to idle more quickly and with some bounces. I can live with that...

I've replaced about 6 of these keys on a few different occasions. It's only on the black keys that the weights break. A fair amount of disassembly is required to repair the broken keys, but it's not very difficult. First, remove the wood top (4 screws on the top, 3 on the vertical back). The vertical black panel that rests over the drawbars must be removed. Then the panel that contains the drawbars must be removed, as well as the control panel with all the switches on it. Now the keybed can be removed from the case by removing the 12 screws from the bottom that retain it. This must be done so you can slide the white keys up and toward you to remove them, allowing removal of the broken black key. There is a small tab that has to be released at the back of each key to allow the back of the key to be pulled up after the key spring is removed. After replacing with intact weighted black keys, the assembly procedure is reversed. FYI...I have glued the broken weights back onto the corresponding keys using J-B Weld epoxy, and have NEVER had one of those repaired keys break again. It's only the OEM keys that break...obviously the molding/structure of the plastic around that steel weight is insufficient for the application. Again...this is not a difficult procedure to repair these keys, but it can be time consuming. Plus, it returns the action of the keybed back to original...both feel and sound. (Broken key weights make a CLACKY sound.) Good Luck.
