I'd like to do two things with the sts settings.

1) I'd like to set them with four favorite sound: piano, guitar, etc.

2) I'd like them to stay that way regardless of what style I choose.

What do I need to do to accomplish these two things?

STS is not independent of your styles. They are defined by the style. You would need to copy all the styles you wish to have the same STS settings to your Favorites or User styles and rewrite the STS for each style with your favorite sounds.

or ...

You could also make Songbook entries with the styles you want and your favorite STS settings.

There is another thing you can do. If you press the STS MODE button twice, so that the led is not lit, this will lock the current sounds in position whichever style you choose. Unfortunately, this may not help you much because, as soon as you press any STS setting after that, the sounds will change and the new sounds will lock (until you press the STS button again).

Yes, when the STS LED is off the current keyboard sound will remain loaded even when a new style is loaded, unfortunately as soon as you press any STS button, the sounds for that new style are instantly activated. This is somewhat useful as you can 'bridge' between two different styles without having the current keyboard sound switch on you until you want it to.

It would be great if the STS settings were a little more independent of the styles, but I imagine that would not be an easy change to the software.

From http://korgpa2xpro.yolasite.com/s-t-u-v.php (Thanks to Keith Ball):

"STS Lock" function would be a logical addition to Pa functionality:

But here's a possibility for consideration:

1]. Turn off the SINGLE TOUCH button [so that changing styles/songs doesn't

change Keyboard Tracks].

2]. Go to Global > General Controls > Interface, and tick "Auto Performance

Select". [If you like it this way, you'll want to save the Global settings.]

3]. On the RH side of the panel, turn on Performance Select, and turn off

Style Change.

Now, just one press of a Performance button selects the first Performance in

that bank.

So, you can store your 10 favourite Performances [or STS] in the first slot

of each of the 10 banks, and select those 10 with just one button press. It's

like having 10 STS buttons!

Then, press the button to select the lower row of Performance buttons, and

you have yet another 10 Performances [or STS] ready to go with just one

button press again.

If you only need 4 Performances [STS], that's fine. You might even find the

Performance buttons easier to get to than the 4 STS buttons.

I have done both of these steps to the styles I play the most and keep adding more ... I just add MY initials to the style name so I don't change the Factory styles ... it IS a bit of work, but pays off in the end ... HOWEVER, it was while making all these 'sound' changes that I experienced the freeze up ... Sad

It took me a while to figure out what you mean by KEWL, but I guess it must be... "Cool"?
Thanks, but it's not me you should thank, but Mr Nice and Easy (Keith Ball).
His site contains a lot of useful information for PA-keyboardists.

And here's another Korg-guru Wink: http://tbleck.de/h2-keyboard.htm

If you save your 4 STS, that you want to use, to "My favorite" button (on a style that you don't ever use) every time you start a style and press that button you will get your sts.

Using this metod is not perfecy but you will get your selected sts after starting any style.

Sorry about that. A carry over from my KDE/Linux days. I really should not use those terms in this forum. Wink

Hello everybody ... I am new in the world of keyboards although I am an amateur piano player ... So please excuse my ignorance as regards my new KORG pa600 OS ... I just received my gear a week ago but I am facing few problems ... One of which is that I fail to do any STS registrations although I have already unboxed the factory lock ... Can anybody give me any clue on how to solve this problem as I can fully edit my songs in the song book ... Thank you
