I have just loaded some Pa3X .set files into my pa600. Included in these set files are global files. I was unable to load with global protect checked, so went ahead and loaded set files anyway, including global file. Everything appears to be working properly. However, reading the forum I see that it is recommended not to load the global files. Could anyone give me a clear answer as to whether one should or shouldn't load global files created an a different arranger, and what is contained in a global file that would be overwritten by loading a different global file? I hope this question makes sense! Thanks a lot!

Global parameters are most likely unique to each keyboard model. Trying to load keyboard x's global parameters into keyboard y could be a recipe for disaster. Korg's coding is not known to have good (or any!) error checking.

It's all a big guessing game as Korg has never shared file formats with their customers. (If they did we would have all kinds of wonderful 3rd party utilities)

Be sure you have saved a complete backup of your keyboard before trying this.

Thoraldus,

How do you restore the global parameters just in case you messed something up and aren't sure what? Do you have to do a system restore?

Or you can save the global parameters on their own. first set up the keyboard as you want it (global). Then press the media button, then touch the save tab, touch ALL and open the system. Now you can choose GLOBAL and then you can save the global parameters to a new set (name it what you like). Once you have done this, you can re-load those global parameters anytime you wish. Doing it this way will not interfere with any styles, sounds, etc. that you have previously loaded. You could even save more than one set of global parameters if you want to suddenly change the parameters for any reason.
