Why have Korg chosen to use a 1/4 inch connector for the mic rather than an XLR? _________________ Graham (Pa1000) |

Does it matter if you use a balanced TRS or unbalanced TS type of 1/4 inch connector?
The specs say the inputs are unbalanced, so what happens if you use a balanced cable? _________________ Graham (Pa1000) |

If you plug balanced cable (TRS, three rings) to unbalanced output (TS, two connectors) then nothing bad happens, you just using too expensive cables.
But, if you are sending unbalanced TS output via unbalanced TS cable to balanced TRS input of your mixer or power amplifier, then part of usefull signal goes to the ground. First of all that distorts higher frequencies, and, for example, your piano will sound muddy, like "deep from tank", and in addition you lose about -3db in loudness. _________________ Developer of Aldan III for Korg M50, KROME.
