I have a set of Alesis M-1 Actives that I like. Although to be honest, they are the only ones I've owned so I don't have a lot to compare them with. |

Event...great Vim!
I think that Behringer Truth sound are great, a great price/result ratio.
Yamaha MS series are good, too.
...I talk about entry level monitors, of course! _________________ Diego http://www.myspace.com/diegoinmusic

This is gonna raise some eyebrows, but the M-Audio powered monitors sound great with my keyboards.
To each his/her own!

Hi.
I’m going with “Other”.
I know people will think I’m mad but I have a pair Mackie 824 and they are in my opinion over priced and over rated monitors. That’s not to say that they don’t sound fantastic. They do !!!!. It’s just that there are many monitors now days at ¼ of the price that sounds almost identical and if not better. Subject to personal opinions obviously.
If everything was clear cut we would all be driving the same cars
Regards.
Sharp.
PS: I love the Behringer Truth B2031 more than my Mackie 824's _________________

synth, about m-audio monitors, be careful. I got the entry level
model ( 6 ") for $249 about 2 years ago. I forget the exact model
name.
That set could not handle my Triton and Rd 700 at a moderate room volume. The bass rattled the monitors.
I took them back the next day and got the Truths.

I really don't have anything to compare to either, but I use the M-Audio SP-8B's (I think that's the number - I'm at work), and I think they're just great for my little studio! They were $350 the pair, and highly recommended especially for their 'low-end'. Works for me!

Are there many different models of Behringer Truths? I've seen at least a couple of different model numbers so far. _________________ M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion |

Like Sewa, I have the B2031. They have a 8 3/4 " speaker
The B2031A is an improved model.
You might find this shocking- you can find out more at Behringer.com _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Most of you know, that I work at a Guitar center, and worked at a "Mom & Pop" music store before that.
All music retailers hate Behringer! Fact! Why? because it's very good products, at a very low price, so customers want it. The problem with that, for retailers, is that the profit margins are the absolute lowest in the market place, well, except for maybe Fender, but THAT'S why Behringer has a suspect reputation. These retailers say bad things about the quality, so we won't buy Behringer, we instead buy the Mackies, and others, that have more profitability for the sellers.
This is absolutely true! You may choose not to believe it, and that's certainly your choise, but to pass on the Behringer products, because of an untrue rumor, is to possibly pass on a great product, at an unbelievable price, and how many of us spend rediculous amounts of time and effort, trying to save a few bucks on our gear?
I've heard every major brand of studio monitors you can name, and the Behringer Truths hold their own very nicely. In fact, I like them very much. there is nothing in that price range, that even comes close to the sound quality of the B2031A's!
I hope this is helpful.

Thanks Stephen, very helpful.
I've only heard one negative report from a retailer I called about Behringer so far though. _________________ M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion |
