Last night i had the chance to check out and work with the Monopoly Plugin from the Korg Legacy Collection in a Studio on a MacPro. This thing is incredibly great.
I would love to have this on Kronos. What do you think?
Maybe we should start a petition...
Cheers

@Korg: Yes, I am willing to pay a reasonable price for it.... _________________ Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff... |

I'd much rather see something like the Wavestation patches working on the Kronos. _________________ Korg Kronos 61 (2); Kurzweil PC4; Casio Privia PX-350m; Macbook Pro |

Kronos is already containing the Wavestation, but in fact much more capable and advanced as the original.
Of course, you have to take care of the patches by yourself... _________________ Kronos88, Kronos 2/61, Dave Smith Pro-2, Minimoog Voyager, MacBook Pro, LogicProX - and a whole bunch of older stuff... |

Korg is working on the next great thing: A real analog remake of the Mono/Poly in a 72% shrunken housing. |

+1
The Mono-Poly is on top of my wishlist for additional engines as well.
In the Legcy collection, it sounds very well and has a great programming surface. I would prefer using it over both the MS-20 and AL-1 anytime.
To me, a Polysix engine plus a Mono-Poly engine would be a perfect pair and all I need for subtractive synthesis live playing. _________________ Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5

I never would buy another hardware synth ... I'm g igging and I don't want to drag 9 synthesizers where the Kronos has them all in one hardware package.
But the advantages weigh (for me) much more then the disadvantages.
Advantages:
- cheaper
- less weight
- no cables needed ->
- less cost
- more reliable
- less setup time
- no truck needed
- less accessoiries needed (mixer, stands)
- less space needed on stage/rehearsal rom
- coherent usage (accessible patches by set list/programs/combi)
- generic GUI
Disadvantages:
- 10 synths on stage looks cooler _________________

I bet that Saxifraggi is just joking. He tends to do that and I hope he never stops! I like his sense of humour.
As for a Mono/Poly engine. Bring it on! I have an old Polysix and used to wonder about the M/P.
I wish, and I imagine that a lot of us here wish, that we could actually communicate with Korg at the design level. _________________ If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!

Agree that the MonoPoly in Legacy edition is fabulous - I use it all the time. I also own and use an original MonoPoly (my first voltage controlled synth) and can testify to the plugin sounding uncannily like the original.
That being said, PolySix on Kronos, especially with the EXi extra features, comes very close. Don't forget Polyphonic Unison mode on the Kronos to double up the voice count, and with a little stereo spread and detune, sound big and fat. Adding two Polysix instances to a program allows other MonoPoly features such as oscillators over octaves. And the arpeggiator on both is the same (and with two instances you can perform two arpeggiators at once on the keyboard). I know you know these features but feel they are worth bringing up; because the Polysix is so strong within the Kronos environment. |
