Hi friends, I have just bought the Korg PA 900,
and I have the Yamaha Tyros 3, and things
are so much different. I’m slowly finding my way
round the keyboard but I cannot fathom out,
how to send set-ups which I think are called performances,
to the front USB stick, to read from it or
send to it, or how to access it, if any one could,
help me with this problem I would be grateful.
I’m 80yrs old so please keep it simple

Sorry to say you can not send the Performances to the USB device as on the Yamaha.

The limit of Performances is 320 period.
Don't despair over this because actually the Song Book is much more powerful on the Korg and makes the use of Performances less important.
The Performances do not match up to the Yamaha registrations - they are somewhat similar. but far too different to consider an exact exchange between them.

This is just my opinion after really studying the performances and I am a newbe to the Korg with lots to learn yet.

Hi Fred, is there a specific reason why you would want to store them to the USB rather than on the hard drive of the board?

Hi Bill G, thank you for your quick reply,
I have made a couple of set ups in Song Book
but was hoping I could send them to the USB stick,
the same as the registrations on Tyros three.
I’ll keep looking,

Hi Graham, the main reason I wanted to
store song set-ups on the USB stick is the
same reason as the Tyros 3, when I go to
friends who have a Tyros 3, I only need to take the USB stick
with my song set-ups on it and the music,

Fred, you can copy your songbook from the hard drive to the USB, if you want backup, or to take it with you to play on a friend's PA900.

Here's the definition of a Performance from the PA3X manual.

"The Performance is the most encompassing setting on the Pa3X – a single setting that can remember a Style (with all the appropriate sounds), the Keyboard tracks (with all the appropriate sounds) and all their Settings, Tempo, transposition, effects, etc… A Performance can be stored in one of the Performance bank locations, "OR" it can be saved in a “database” format using the SongBook function."

It's explained in the Media section of the User Manual (pp. 277-294). The Copy function specifically is covered in pp. 288-289.

Hi Graham, thank you for assistance, I only had the Quick Guide,
with the Pa900, I never realised there was a User Manual.
I have located it and downloaded it, I will read through it to morrow,
and try and work out what to do.

Hi Fred. The "secret" to saving the Songbook is learning to drill down to the Songbook file rather than saving All. So on the Pa3x (and I'm sure it will be similar on the Pa900) you choose Media, Save, touch the All on the screen then choose Open (not Save to), now you can see the file structure. So now touch Songbook on the screen, then Save to. Now if you touch the HD icon you can change it to USB, New Set, give it a name and OK, Yes.
So if you take this along to your friends you can load your songbook provided you are not using custom user sounds or user styles (in which case you would need to save Styles etc as well).
You can even drill down further and save individual songbook entries rather than the whole book if needed.
One final thing - make sure your friend saves All so he can go back to his settings when you are finished.
