Version 2.1 v2 sounds and KRS-06?

Post by hammondcuni »

Just trying to understand. These 2 are different? Guess I'm just confused because of them coming out at the same time. Im on my mobile just catching up before I get home and update my KronosX.

the KRS-06 sounds are a separate download and are new. The ones included in the update are only updates for the existing stock organ sounds.

So the KRS sounds should go to a UU bank?

Why do a firmware update? Do you notice an issue or problem that effects you? If not you might want to consider to wait until you need it. If you add it for no reason you might have a bad flash.. Then what? Off to service it goes.

Okay, I'm trying to make sure I've got my sh*t together before I do this upgrade thing too. I'm reading that there is a PRELOAD_V2.PCG file I'm supposed to download from somewhere. I clicked Jeebus's link and scrolled to the bottom where I found the KRS-06 CX3 Signature Series for free. I downloaded it and extracted and all I find is a folder of new manuals and a KRS-06.PCG file. Is it just me that is confused here? Are these two files one in the same or two seperate files? Just looking for some clarification. Thanks in advance!

Go here:

Click on the Operating System line. It will open to show a number of downloads.

All of the files are there.

Thanks Dan. That was it. I had overlooked that file when I downloaded all the others (except for the older OS versions).

I'm going in now ... wish me luck! If you haven't heard from me in a few hours ... send out a search party.

For anyone who's interested, I did 4 quick demos of 4 of the new KRS-06 sounds, and they can be heard on my soundcloud channel here..

https://soundcloud.com/ccmacdon/

The demos are as follows:

Kronos KRS-09 KE Eruption Split
Kronos KRS-09 KORG No Disgrace Organ
Kronos KRS-09 DJ Whytershade
Kronos KRS-09 TM Child Organ

Signature sound from Keith Emerson, a nice new ballsy Korg program, David Jacques Whiter Shade of Pale sound and last but not least, Jon Lord's signature Sweet Child In Time percussion sound..

No effects, just very quickly done demos, with the output of the Kronos directly into my Quad Capture interface into Sonar.

I'm pretty impressed with these new sounds!!

2.1.0 update

Post by JPROBERTLA »

Somewhere in this topic, someone said that the 2.1.0 update affects organ programs already in the Kronos and that the KRS-06 programs are new and would have to be added; I am reading this correctly?

As a general rule, KRONOS software updates never automatically change the loaded sounds, in order to avoid inadvertently overwriting user data.

KRS-06 is a separate download, as are the revised factory sounds.

Make sure to read the documentation included with the downloads!
