I am having a problem with a couple of imported styles. After playing the ending the music tapers off correctly, but right at the end it seems as if all the Acc sounds play one last time for a fraction of a second, which really spoils the moment!

Anyone have any ideas what's causing this and what I can do to correct it?

Impossible to determine without seeing the style or at least hearing a recording. Wink

Here's a link to the mp3. The sound occurs at around 0.18.

Hi Graham...
Do the sounds kind of die off on their own at the end, or you're using expression to fade out? If You're using Expression, it seems to me CC#11 jumps back to the full value at the very end for a short moment and causes that hiccup.

If that's not the case, I'm willing to try out the file on my keyboard and find out what the problem is.

Hi Sam, I am not using any expression pedal, the recording was just playing the Ending on its own with no interference from me Smile

I was reluctant to post the style since I purchased it from an individual, and in good faith therefore did not want to make it freely available. I have written to him asking him to look at it, and he has promised to do so in a few days. Meanwhile, I was trying to learn more about converting and modifying styles, since I have experienced this on other styles.

No , I meant CC#11 values that are recorded and programmed into the style.

OK, got it. Yes the ending ends with declining Control 11 values, except the last two are 100 then 127. So I tried deleting them, saving the style after each part. Then I played the style and the sound was still there. When I went back and looked the 127 had reappeared.

The default “header” parameter in each case is a CC#11 value of 127, which is greyed out, and therefore I cannot change it. Presumably that is why it inserts the 127 value at the end of the track. So, now I understand your post.

Is there a way to fix it?

Graham,

The Expression value in the header file is just a result of the controller default reset command. And - I think the keyboard adds another reset on exit - just part of the OS.

Yes. Just add a bar at the end and program the desired expression value, but you got to do it for all tracks that contribute to that "hiccup" moment.
There's other solutions too. I can't be specific because I can't see what's going on with the last bar. At least you have an idea now.

I think this is the issue:

Expression Issue

Fix 1:
Expression Fix 1

Fix 2:
Expression Fix 2

Not everything works for all situations. It all depends on the sounds, tempo, time Signature ...etc. There's more solutions...You just have to experiment.

Thanks Sam, I had never modified a style until recently, and this is a master class! I'll work at it and report back.

Graham,

I was wrong with my post about the "expression" setting in the header of each track, that is what is set for each track when the style is made and they can each be different.

I think Sam has nailed it with his graphics - Thanks Sam.

Fixed!

Your suggestions and graphics really helped, Sam, thanks.

I went into Style Record and changed the CV Length of End1 from 6 to 7 (the only way I could see to add a bar). That created an additional bar of events from bar 1 now in bar 7, so I went to Event Edit and deleted all the events in bar 7 for each track and changed the final CC#11 event to be at the end of bar 7. That did it! Very Happy
