KP3+ LED Problem

Post by avaizhashmi »

Hey guys,
New to KP3+ pad and just noticed that my screen is not responding to my touch properly. See the photos for clarity.

Photo 1: Dancing lights on the whole screen.

Photo 2: LEDs only glowing on one side and moving in vertical direction.

Calibration failed?

Post by avaizhashmi »

Hey BradKorg,
Thanks for those links.

I tried factory reset and now I just tried something from Mareed's Calibration post.
Mareed wrote:Hi!! Ive got the same problem with the left row and up corner. I found a calibration guide but its only available in japanese or something

www.korg.co.jp/Product/Dance/KP3/KP3_Calib_J1.pdf

for my pleasur, essential information are in english!!!!

So procedure is...

hold down 'PROGRAM MEMORY 7' PROGRAM MEMORY 8' and 'SAMPLING' while putting power on
Cal 1 will appear on screen

You just have to follow the picture in the japaness pdf in other to calibrate properly. It automaticly switch to next corner when you press the pad.

It work for me, hope it work for you to!!

Michael
My CAL3 is not working and that is the top right corner. What would this mean?

It means that it doesn't detect/process the CAL3 Right trace-signal (PAD2/CN2 (could be named differently in KP3+) in servicemanual).

1) If you're lucky a reconnect/refit the ribboncable/connector will fix it:
See instruction by Enchurito's post:
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... ht=#181543

2) Try rubbing with finger all the sides and whole screen on the touch pad foil, to reseat/refit the foils contacts.
There are 4 square tracelines PAD1/2/3/4=Top/Right/Bottom/Left on the Touchpad.

Otherwise to reach/rub directly above on foil layer where the traces are under, you'll need to open the kp3 topcase.
You can see the 4 side signal-traces on the outer-edges inside the touchpad foils, that gives the capacitive signals and the Right signal PAD2 is not working.

3) Otherwise the Right trace PAD2 of the touchpad/pins/connector CN2 itself is damage/defect or then further the PAD circuit electronics or then any other further processing electronics.

4) If you can't fix it, send to dealer/KORG for repair.

Not loose. I detached and attached it again fully.

The rest I am scared to do. The previous owner says she has just ordered a new screen. Hope that works some how.
