Hi mates!

I want to create a pattern with 6/8 rhythm over 4/4 beat in my EMX. However, i dont know what beat i must choose.

I would appreciate any example (graphicly on step sequencer) about how to remain four to the floor rhythm (for kickdrum) and get any synth over 6/8.

Kind regards
Enzo

Take a blank empty pattern.
In pattern setting set lenght to 2.
Set last step to 12 (shift + 12)
Voilá, now you have two 3/4 patterns which means you have one 6/8 rhytm.
kick drum to every fourth slot (1, 5, 9) and there you have it.

if I got you correctly

Thank you Johnny! My purpose is to recreate a groove like the synth of Robert Hood - Minus.

I mean i want to recreate an offbeat groove that sounds like a cycle that are in continuous way. For that I thought that a 6/8 beat works.

I didn't really hear a clear bass for context but it seems a 5/16 synth pattern?

Want to clarify: with last step I meant to say that shift + 1 and after that 12.

cheers, Johnny

if you want a 4/4 kick ona 6/8 TS you will have the kicks at 1, 4, 7, 10.

as for using different synth timing you can also get a similar effect on a normal 4/4 pattern by using the LFO to chop (squ/ramp) the synth parts to 3/8 or whatever.. it will work for sustained notes but not really for intricate arpeggios where notes are always changing.
