I know this has to be a setting issue:

One of my favorite features on the E2 one can create a pattern in 1 bar and then have it copied to the rest of the 4 bars by simply changing the pattern length to 4.

However some times I run into a situation where if I do the above technique it will copy the pattern up to 3 bars and then leave bar 4 blank.

Any ideas of what I could have missed when creating my patterns in the E2?

BTW I have not messed with the "Last Step Settings".

You need to use the "clear sequence" before you record that one bar
If there was a recording on the track before and u didn't use the clear sequence then extending to two+ bars would just bring back the old bar recording of the track... Even if the bar was empty...

^ you know I thought that was the case but this trick I have done to many 1 bar sequences I created in a couple months ago when I first got the E2.
