I really hope we get some of the new OS features, even if we have to pay a little.
Drag and drop display...? Capacitive then I guess? |
This feature has been with the M3 and Krome, same screen. _________________ Admin Kronos Enthusiast Workshops Facebook Group

On the Korg UK facebook page Korg answers to a comment and states that the OS3.0 will be compatible with the previos kronos models and will be free of charge. Download available from the end of November. |

From the Korg UK Facebook page:
"the Berlin piano will be available to original KRONOS owners for a fee."
Fair enough I reckon.
Question is though - will it require a new SSD if you only have the original 30GB SSD? |

That would depend if you have 9GB available space to spare in your SSD. _________________ Admin Kronos Enthusiast Workshops Facebook Group

IIRC, there wasn't much spare on the original disks. |

I don't store anything except the factory PCG and samples on my original 30GB SSD, everything else I put on my 2nd 120GB SSD. I seem to remember there is 14GB avail with just the factory PCG and samples on the 30GB SSD. I can double check when I get home. _________________ Korg Kronos-61, Korg Triton Le-61, Korg R-3, Alesis Vortex, Edirol PCR-M80, Yamaha Motif XF-61, Roland JV-1080, Roland D-5, E-MU Classic Keys, Kawai Q-80 Sequencer, iPad Pro 9.7, Roland A-49 |

How is that fair enough..? lol
Even the bigger m3 expanded version was free to all m3 users, with a new piano and full library of new sounds.
For the kronos they should do exactly the same thing, offer the new piano and a decent new soundbank to substitute (or complement) the lackustre 10year old one on the kronos. _________________ www.youtube.com/danextgen

I thought that sounded too good to be true! It sounds amazing. Checkout Jordan Rudess playing the new piano....

I honestly wouldn't care if they charged something for it. If they can continue to receive revenue for an older instrument, they'll have renewed incentive to continue developing for it.
There's little reason for a company to update stuff if they're not getting anything in return for that update.
