It seems to me to be extremely unlikely that Korg would merge the two products. And for me, since the MasterFX seem to be tagged on the outputs, thereby unable to include while resampling (also the situation on the Yamaha RS7000, btw), it will be better to have two dedicated units. I wouldn't mind if Korg did this (obviously), cause nothing would stop me from bying two of these bad boys, but it seems like a very, very strange thing to do, business-wise.

I think expansion to 8 bars, plus a song mode would warrant being described a "big news".

Yeah, I think it was a bit unfair to Korg to speculate about the product merge. Of course nobody would oppose to it but probably not very realistic. I can picture korg reps reading this thread shocked and thinking a few of their customers have become delusional Laughing

The're lightly to be aware of it if James Pullen spilt the beans , -but it wouldn't make sense to release a black ,sample version if they were going the plug-out way. They know what they have planned years ahead of release and right now they've been releasing lots of different versions of a box's.

(^I may be wrong and they do release a plug out..)
But maybe they are going to release a VSTi version that needs hardware ,like System 1/Machine.
Have as many copies of E2 as you like with software UI/DAW?
..now I really am speculating.

That's actually VJ Franz K - he's got quite a few (OK, a LOT) of videos on YouTube of him demo'ing and playing various drum machines and synths. His love for the Electribe series is well documented. I'm not surprised he's one of the first to have something up of an Electribe being used in a live situation, especially one like that.

Here's a link to his channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwXxEUyuam0g01kNe8RHcOw

I hate to be a pessimist, but since this is from some random dealer dude he could have just meant the introduction of the sampler model. Neutral

I think you might be onto something there...

Before we go any further here with all the wild speculation, what were the exact words you heard that suggested it would be anything more than an update or just the sampling version being finally released. Your first post only said the following:

If that's all the dealer told you, the jump between the two quotes here suggests you're making a lot of speculations.

An iOS librarian would be awesome.

I think this thread may have some may have some insight:

Interesting strings in the OS 1.03 SYSTEM.VSB file wrote:

I think what we might be looking at here...this to me makes the most sense...what if Korg plans on a new revenue model that SELLS new sound banks. Included in that, there would be a special app to manage all of this for both iPhone and Android devises. At the hair of a chance, the most expensive pack would be the sampler firmware rom overwrite...guessing $100 would work.

Another possibility is something that has happened with the Volca Sampler:

http://korginc.github.io/volcasample/

http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/cevs

Imagine if an SDK could be made for our new E2.

I can see 'Single Cell' doing the same for the E2 where the new tribe can become a box for Caustic 7 or 8

http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/caustic

Thats what make sense to me.

I think you are on the money here:

Korg Gadget would have to be redone to work on both tablet and phone.

The phone version would be for just editing parameters, setting up step sequencing and would have to use the E2 to run the sound. You could store all of your settings. In the end, the E2 would be the hardware version of Gadget.

Being able to have an iPad librarian with the ability to sample iOS synths & such and then upload them to the E2 would be a wet dream.
