JD-Xi MAP $499 actual street around $399

I think the 128 voice Roland digital synth sounds great // real analog mono synth -hard to tell if as good as SH-101? Not sure about PCM drums --are they 96KHZ?
looks pretty much a hard choice between JD-Xi and Electribe 2
Get both is the answer!!!

It looks like JD-Xi and Electribe Sampler will be my personal dream team. Can't wait to learn if/how the Roland sequencer handles polyphonic patterns.

Looks like a nice piece of gear. 4 track sequencer only, but all drum sounds are kept separate. 128 voices polyphony for the digital part, one for analog.

I wonder what the retail price will be. Might be a good alternative for the buggy e2 Cool

Just one analog oscillator without any modulation sourse Sad ? 16 step sequencer? Come on, it's not even close to electribe2. If you want an analog piece of gear to complement e2, just buy volca bass (150$ new or 100$ used) and you'll get 3 analog oscillators with sequencer.

Who cares this analog gimmick voice in the Roland synth? The whole package is great and a nice add-on to the new Tribe. 128 super natural synth voices, vocoding, polyphonic sequencing etc. I would call this baby a little more flexible than the Volca Bass.

It is definetly more flexible than volca from this point of view. I had roland lucina and I wasn't happy with its PCM, not sure this one is much better.

Need some fresh inspiration, or maybe a sound for a particular style of music? Just visit the Axial sound library site, where you’ll find a growing selection of free new sounds and patterns for the JD-Xi. Axial features sounds for many other Roland synths as well, all created by top engineers and leading electronic music artists.

If this means you can use custom samples the whole 128 digital polyphony gets quite interesting.

Nope, it's just a fancier way of them saying there's extra preset sounds you can download from their website, haha. Pretty much all their recent synths have free presets on the Axial site.

Does it mean you can download new PCMs? Or just presets made of the same PCMs?

It's just extra preset sound patches made with the existing PCMs.

JD-XA looks proper!

Whereas JD-XI does not even have front panel ADSR.

Mentionned for the Roland JD-Xi :

512 programs (combis) containing each :
- the selection of the 2 digital sounds and all their parameters tweeked from the front panel (filter, lfo, amp, effects, etc)
- the selection of the analog waveform and filter and effects
- the selection of the drum kit but with the tweaks to EACH note (sound)
- the 4 sequences, one for each sound or drum
- 256 already programs and 256 empty user slots

Not mentionned ANYWHERE on the web :
How many of the SUPERNATURAL synth sounds are already on board ?
You have a library from which you can assign to the sound 1 or sound 2 slot, but how many are there to choose from !?!?!
Sure, you can load ONE free library at a time from the Roland Axial site (which is between 25 and 100 sounds) but HOW MANY SOUNDS ALREADY ON BOARD ? 100? 250? 1000? More?

This will make or break the deal for me.

If more than 500 I'll buy one because I wanted a FA06 but couldn't afford it.
A SUPERNATURAL sound engine for 500$ is a great deal !
And i like the small package and don't mind the small keys as this will be used as a travelling synth and a sound module. Very Happy

I can't believe that info is not even mentionned anywhere on Roland sites !
And nobody from SonicState, SoundonSound and company have bothered to ask !!!

I guess we'll have to wait for the user manual to be available online...
Sad

You will not get more than 100-150 for the price I think.

On one youtube video, I saw on the screen 089-Seq Bass so at least there's 89 !!! Loll. Laughing

One other thing that bugs me...

When a company spends millions of dollars making a new synth, why do they demo their new synth by a young inexperienced unprepared dj-wanna-be non-musician ?!?!?
To save money over the NAMM weekend because they only pay him 10$ an hour ?

The guy is truly awful !
Almost as bad as the Akai guy...
He is ALWAYS showing the same thing and saying the exact same text.
So even if there's 50 youtube videos, it's like there's only one...
I learned more in the only Scott Tibbs videos than all the other ones...

Look at the Amos dude at Moog, he is a technical genius who knows his product in and out or the guy demoing the Nord Electro 5, that's a real musician !
