I suppose a second HD screen is no option?

Colors are different for MAX 6 and MaxForLive. That means it's becoming hard to develop for one configuration and then convert on the fly for all parallel versions. I guess I have to isolate the user display from the logic layer. A version with little demands on screen real estate with an alternating 32 step grid would then come into sight.

Great work at compiling this together but I 2nd 256K on the screen size issue. I was so excited to get started on this and realize I cant get to waht the bottom part of the stuff. I have had ableton live before I never had this problem.

There really is no reason for a simple Electribe editor to be in HD on a computer.

Can you bring this down to 1024 x 600 (that's a good standard size for any application)or at least don't go over 1280 x 768.

Or at the very least have side scrolling.

Or break everything up into 2 tabs in the same window; tab 1 for the main stuff and tab 2 for the sequence part.

How about and auto fit ton screen option? I don't know any software that does not have that as an option.

And really understand, the width is not the issue...its the screen height is your problem. You don't want to go over 768.

Here is what we are fighting:

This is my extended desk top from laptop screen on right with your finished work and to the left on my 720 screen with a screen shot of how it should look on a screen.

The Screen shot portion is a perfect size at 1161 x 665 for the app. Yes it is reduced but you can still see everything.

If reducing the size is difficult then lets try the tab / button option for example:

When you hit the "Switch to Sequence" button, you then get this:

You will notice that Switch to Sequence" has been replaced with "Switch to Global / Part"

Also notice that in the indicator where you have a part listed in red, I placed up and down arrows, so you can scroll through your parts when in Sequence mode.

Either you can reduce the size or choose the option I have illustrated here, but one of these is needed. Xanadu, you are almost done!

Great work and thank you for all of your effort.

Honestly vertical and horizontal page scrolling will do the job nicely.... tabs would be cool but seriously not a big deal it's just if i hook up my laptop to a screen that means i have to be sitting on my desk and i dont usually do that....

Maybe this has been asked before but how hard would it be to have this talk directly to the electribe through either the midi usb or regular DIN midi cable so that you can use this editor directly controlling the electribe... now that i see the actual full size page i quite like seeing all 64 steps in one row....

256K

I'm with you there on the non tab option. Really all that really needs to be done (and I hope really soon) is reduce the resolution down to 1156 X 655 and XANADU is done! That's all that needs to happen.

Lookhow nice and readable it is at that resolution in the example:

It all fits on one screen and is easy to read.

Your idea on having the software control the E2 is great and sounds like a next step but lets not offer any more ideas until the size thing is fixed...which I hope is soon because I can't wait to try this out.

On popular demand there is are 2 additional versions of the Electribe2 Pattern Editor now. Now there are NETBOOK, SMALL and HD versions. There are executables for Windows, MFX files for Apple runtimes and the original .maxpat file is included as well.

You can download all versions (v. 021) now from:

https://dl.orangedox.com/9BXdPjuKSqpg2J9AXn/Electribe2_Pattern_Editor.zip

The size of the SMALL user interface is 914 x 665 pixels, but with borders you need 926 x 695 pixels. This is a bit wider, but less tall then the Arturia Spark2 VST. The NETBOOK version will fit on the screen of small netbook computers of some years ago.

You can download a screenshot with the SMALL editor on a 1024 x 768 screen here:

https://dl.orangedox.com/5lC42ikXos8F826CKT/Screenshot.021.jpg

The SMALL version has the same functionallity as the HD version, but there are 13 notes visible instead of 15 and drumgrid only has drumparts 9, 10, 13 and 14 are visible for kick, snare and hats.

The NETBOOK version has 9 visible notes and no drumgrid.

However: all version support the same features.

Am i missing something? the 018 one on the max4live page works flawlessly.

EDIT:
Nevermind i redownloaded the zip file and now it works somehow....

I think our friend has figured out the (most likely) SysEx or NRPN messages used by the not sending CC knobs and switches on the electribe2.

But that's only my guess.

I'm afraid the E2 has no NRPN and very little SysEx. But I'm still hoping for a SysEx guide... Very Happy

MIDI support simply means using the E2 itself and a Novation Launchpad to do the editing. That means less mousing and RSI.
