Hi all.
I'm going to be in London for a few days, any really good music shops worth checking out?
Regards
Sharp. |

Funny the things that get replies or not. I certainly expected to a see a whole list of music shops posted up. Are there that few good places to go to or just not that many people familiar with that area? |

Well... Statistically the response will be limited to forum members who live in or around London, buy gear at shops rather than on line, have had a positive and relatable experience, are not intimidated by Sharp, and make it as far down as the General Music threads.
Alternatively, Sharp could try asking who's got the worst shop in London using a pseudonym and mis-post it in the Kronos page which seems to have the most activity.
As a Yank I have, unfortunately, nothing constructive to say to Sharp about music shops on the right side of the Atlantic positive or negative, but thought Bertotti at least deserved an answer to his question.
Prego,

Good points I am betting that where the question is located is a big part of the problem. I seem to remember several threads in the past with references to music shops in the England in general so the lack of response surprised me. But good points! Seems the internet has so completely change the way people shop..... |

Sadly the glory days of keyboard shops like Turnkey and Argent's are long gone, Sharp.
You could try Rose Morris and Wunjo Guitars (who have a keyboard dept.) in Denmark St but if you've got transport or don't mind jumping on a train Anderton's in Guildford, 30 miles south west of London, is worth a visit. |

No good asking me, either. Over 35 years since I bought in any music shops in London. Back then they seemed to be centred around Charing Cross Rd.
There's a decent, but not huge, Korg dealer in Barnet - right at the end of the Northern Line on the tube. Can't remember the name, but they've got other branches around the city.
Trouble is, London covers a big area. It's not like you can nip here and there in ten minutes. _________________ When I nod my head . . . Hit it!

For the centre of London its' all a bit dead now, ok for guitars but not much else.
This central area is entered around Denmark St/Charing cross rd.
What area of London will you be visiting? |

If you havent been yet Sharp then go to Yamaha music on Wardour St and go and see my mate Tony there. He will make you feel very welcome, tell him you know me.

Hi Guys.
Thanks a million for all your replies. Sadly had had already departed by the time you were replying and unbelievably there was no freaking Wi-Fi in the Hotel.
Had a great few days in London but sadly couldn't find a single music shop. Took to Subway to quite a few different locations but it was all clothing and the usual kind of high street shops.
Kind regards
Sharp. _________________
